Preface

It's not a terrible way to depart. Here, at the precipice of this dying universe, amidst the throngs on the battlefield, before her very eyes. But will she shed tears as she watches him bleed out his final drop of life within her embrace? Despite her formidable healing powers, will she come to terms with the truth that he's sacrificing himself to protect her?

As his soul begins its journey from his fragile, wounded vessel, he catches sight of her. Cradling his head with tenderness, tears streaming down her cheeks like a newborn's, she remains the most exquisite being he's ever beheld. Even now, as it's almost too late to utter, he wishes he'd told her that he loves her.

As he moves closer to the waiting angel, perched upon the remnants of the shattered moon, amid the cacophony of roaring flames, clashing swords, and the anguished cries of falling dragons, her voice reaches his ears. Her salty tears fall upon his pallid cheek and torn lips. In this poignant moment, she serenades him with the song she had vowed to sing only for the one she loves.
