Chapter 7: Losing Her Mate?

Julie's POV:

I felt as if my worst nightmare came to life when I witnessed Jayden entering the room with a loud burst of claps combined with his evil laughter that never managed to escape my ears.

Seeing his disgusting face up close in the open to me made me relive the intense shame and pain that I vowed never to allow myself to experience again.

It was as if my entire control over myself disappeared and now that monster had me tied to his puppet strings.

I hated that I felt that way. I wished I could avoid it but I was far too weak to do anything about it.

I could only sob bitterly as panic washed over me completely.

"Aw, why the water works, Julie? Are you disappointed that the truth has been revealed?" Jayden mentioned with mockery, underscoring each word.

I took a step further towards Brandon taking his hands into mine once again, "Brandon, whatever he's saying is a complete lie."

Although I didn't know what Jayden had told him, I knew it would be anything further than the truth. If he could lie to his own father, Alpha King of the west, it would be no big deal for him to do the same to the Alpha King of the north.

Being Brandon's mate, I had clung to the hope that he wouldn't let himself get fooled by Jayden's words but my hope slowly began to decline when he released my grip on his hands.

I felt my heart being squeezed terribly when he widened the distance between us. His eyes that once had a soft look for me, quickly harden into something cold and distant.

"A lie? Like the way you lied about being a rogue?" he sneered, his jaw clenching while his hands formed into fists.

I could see veins bulging out the side of his forehead as rage began to take him by force.

I never saw this side of him even when he batted the rogues for me. It was enough to send shivers down my spine, making my puffy face pale in an instant.

"Are you going to stand there and tell me that that's still the truth?" he continued in a deep tone as I shook my head completely.

I was completely stunned, not knowing what to say while Jayden's smirk knew no bounds, enjoying seeing me in pain as he always did.

"Jayden introduced me to your father and he told me everything too. The real reason you were wandering the unclaimed territories was because you broke the pack law by sleeping with rogues and ran away from being persecuted." Brandon explained, advancing towards me until I hit the wall behind me while he towered over me.

"N-No! No, Brandon. That isn't true. I didn't do any of that." I stuttered, my teeth clattering in fear of Brandon's piercing gaze.

Just as I was about to continue, Jayden interrupted me, leaning against the door with his arms folded against his chest.

"That's her specialty Brandon. She is a h*rny seductress who opens her legs out to a bunch of rogues all the time. When she gets caught red handed, she tries to trap high status men into her little mess… like she did with me… claiming I assaulted her when her poor father found her reeking of sex in the forest." he repeated his original lie, sneakily sending a wink my way while Brandon's rage began to intensify.

"You did that to me too… didn't you?" he coldly asked, his eyes softening a bit at a bitter realization he felt internally.

"Those rogues I saw you with… you weren't in any danger, were you?" he uttered, while my heart shattered into a million pieces.

Out of all the things he could say to me, I didn't expect he would believe that whatever happened between me and those drunken rogues was merely an act.

I didn't expect for a minute he would think my cries and fear for my life in that moment was all a lie?

"Brandon, please. Please don't-"! I cried out, wrapping my arms around him, trying to get him to snap out of the trance that Jayden's lies had on him.

However, I felt a jolt of pain in my back when Brandon pushed me away with disgust etched all over his face.

"I trusted you, Julie. I f*cking trusted you!" he barked at the top of his lungs, his orbs showing the betrayal he felt from me.

At that point, whatever thread of hope I had within me to get Brandon to learn the truth was tearing apart. I could tell that he no longer saw me the same way he did.

The care and affection he had for me all died out the minute Jayden stepped foot into the room.

"Brandon, please listen to me. All of that is a lie." I tried to speak up once last time but Jayden spoke over me once again.

"Really? You're still going to try and keep the innocent mask on?" He began to laugh out loud before approaching us.

"Brandon, why don't you check and see if she's a virgin? I guarantee you that you'll know exactly the type of woman she really is." he suggested, munching on an apple that he found on the fruit bowl placed on the table next to the dresser.

Just as he said that, Brandon immediately grabbed a hold of my wrist. The force he applied bruised my skin completely.

"Alright. If you're really innocent, let's check it out." he blurted out before dragging me, turning a deaf ear to my cries.

Before he could take me out of the room, I tried to yank my hand away, causing him to stop in his tracks.

He scanned me with disbelief, my hesitation to have my virginity tested evident all over.

I lowered my head in silence knowing that the test would show exactly what Jayden wanted to show him. There was no way I could prove Jayden did it anymore as his DNA wasn't present on me anymore.

"There you go, man. That face right there shows that she is lying." Jayden voiced out with glee, continuing to munch on the apple.

"Don't worry.I'll go ahead and cancel the wedding for you. She can't escape her execution anymore now that we have our hands on her. She'll pay for all the crimes she has committed." he patted Brandon on his shoulder as his glare didn't leave me for a second.

My body felt weak knowing there was nothing I could do anymore. I should've known the ugly fate that was decided for me all along. Anything joyful in my life was merely just a cruel distraction before returning me to reality.

Suddenly just as Jayden was about to walk away, to cancel the wedding and have the warriors arrest me, he stopped upon hearing Brandon's voice.

"Wait." Brandon ordered, leaving me puzzled.

"The wedding will not be canceled." he declared, leaving the both of us stunned.
