At The Police Station

At the police station everyone who had been dragged to come to the station had given their statements except for Shanazer, they made her stay on reserve deliberately.

When they had finished with the others. She got invited into the office, on entering she found a peculiar face, "Hello miss Athens, please do take a seat."

The handsome middle aged man waited for Shanazer to take a seat. He saw her make not a move. He pretended to ignore her and went to vocalise what he had on his mind.

"I have heard a whole lot of interesting stuff about you. Sorry for waiting this long, by the way my name is Adrian London. I work for a special unit in organised crime, we just tackle specific special crimes."

It began to bother Shanazer. Why would a highly decorated person in such a big position and department need to talk to her? Why did he also find him at the police station? She had the knowledge that the people who should attend to her should be the police officer on duty.

The man had an allsmile from the moment he had commenced speaking. Shanazer had little patience, she had already wasted her precious time and now this? She did not intend to give him a soft spot.

'I am absolutely sure that I am in the wrong place. So if I am not of use here I will just take a leave."

After a careful analysis Shanazer made up her mind.

Adrian London took no offense in the rude response of Shanazer, in the view of the fact that they needed her to do something for them. He maintained his same neutral face with a cordial grin.

Shanazer almost made a move to walk away when Adrian London came once more pleadingly, "Please take a seat, I insist."

Shanazer relented a bit, so she decided to give him a chance and hear what he had to say.

She took a seat, made herself comfortable and unable to predict just what this would be about.

"The main reason why you are here is to help us with an investigation of a case we have been unable to solve for a long time. With your help we are convinced that we will be able to pinpoint concrete evidence on the suspect."

"You were able to identify the culprit easily, I don't think any of my men could do that, me included, you have a rare gift, probably it comes naturally to you."

He took a short pause, swallowing the saliva that had formed in his mouth.

"The hit on Taonga Degrarosa was intended for Mr Degrarosa, she just happened to be in the way, perhaps a mistake by the assassin. These people had this plan set in motion for a long while and today turned out to be the perfect execution day. Therefore, we would like to send you into Saddania Prison as our spy. The person you captured gave us some clues."

Shanazer chuckled, she found the stranger really amusing and an excellent joker.

"Isn't that your work?"

She argued, not taking any of what he brought to her attention seriously.

"I mean my words. We are serious and it's not a joke."

Adrian London's facial muscles shifted from an all smile to that of consequential.

"In the unit, we currently don't have a female officer with your talent and skills. We need someone as resourceful as you. That's why we need your assistance as soon as possible. If not, the suspect will walk away free when she is supposed to be confined for life imprisonment and rot there. She is a deadly unreasonable killer. You saw one of her acts."

Adrian London took a breather, Shanazer went silent, presumably considering this new proposal carefully. The picture started getting clearer. She just wasn't just sure how she would fit in.

Reading her thoughts he proceeded, "The person behind all this is called Viviana Zinnatela, she goes by the nickname of Savage, she has been a rival of the Degrarosa Motorways company for more than ten decades, though indirectly. She is currently in Saddania Prison where she has been held for two years. None of the crimes she was convicted for is sticking and they are likely to release her at any time and that's where you come in."

"How will I do that? I have no knowledge of investigating apart from what I have seen in movies."

"As I mentioned earlier you will go into Saddania prison as an undercover cop. A spy sort of. Since you have no background as a police officer it makes you a perfect candidate."

He gazed into Shanazer's eyes, to see if he had her hooked and had brought her into the idea.

A genuine smile came on her face.

"I would like to help on that but I am sorry. My life just got started if you know what I mean. This coming Monday I have work at Oxyamcorp Base one. So my hands are already full and loaded with plenty of daily needs to simplify my life. I can't possibly go play hero stuff for the cops."

She shrugged when she finished talking. Adrian London didn't look surprised by her turndown. He must have anticipated this in advance.

"Oh, I do know about your activity with OxyamCorp base one. I made arrangements with them. They are more than willing to grant you an exemption. If you do this undercover work for us, you will be able to start from any desired position on full salary, of course our special task force will pay you for your services. We will also be able to protect you from any forces that may rise against you."

"As a matter of fact we can cancel the duel that you have with Cathy Williams, that family can not lay a finger on you."

Shanazer had an eye opener. If this special task force were able to go to that extreme, it showed her how important the mission meant to them and also the benefits they were offering happened to be very tempting.

"I perfectly understand the offer that you intend to give me, however, I don't want to cancel the duel, the other incentives are to put them on paper, I will sign when my guardian is present. A single witness would mean a great deal to me."

Shanazer made her quick decision boldly.

Adrian London chuckled, "I like the sound of that, I will re-prepare the documents with a witness, and at the same time we can use your fight with Cathy Williams as the means to the end."

Soon after Shanazer summarised her business at the police station, Adrian London dropped her off at her apartment. The past few days were spent between University and her place.

Certain days move faster than others. An actual day for the duel came, around 1:30 pm, the Serena Campus arena had been getting flooded with campus students. Students also from other universities and the general public.

People had to pay a huge amount to enter the campus arena. Apparently, it seemed nothing of a great deal as people paid insane amounts to witness the duel of Shanazer Athens and Cathy Williams.

The VIP area had been fully booked two weeks ago and now it turned out to be already bustling with wealthy personnels.
