After dinner, Logan browsed through the eerie and mysterious website while Evelyn was engrossed in her TV drama on the couch. They were waiting for nightfall, eager to head out and continue their now well-practiced routine of hunting supernatural entities in the shadows.
"Supernatural threat levels..."
Logan scrolled through a post that piqued his interest. It was an official post from the site, detailing the classification system for supernatural entities based on the level of threat they posed.
Since the appearance of these entities, humanity had begun categorizing them by their danger level and destructive capability, ranging from Level 1 to Level 5.
However, these classifications didn't always align with the actual strength of the entities.
Sometimes, a Level 2 entity could be more dangerous than a Level 3 one. This was because each supernatural being had unique powers, and their behaviors were often unpredictable.
For instance, a powerful entity that preferred to stay in one place without harming anyone might be labeled as Level 2 because it posed no immediate threat. On the other hand, a weaker entity that wandered around, killing indiscriminately, could be categorized as Level 3.
This system allowed humanity to assess the potential risk posed by these creatures and respond accordingly. Lesser threats could be dealt with later, while higher-level threats required urgent attention and elimination.
Logan thought for a moment and chuckled.
"If I were classified, I'd probably be a negative Level 1."
After all, not only had he never harmed any humans, but he had saved several. That made him something of a "traitor" among supernatural beings.
"Babe, time to take out the trash,"
Logan said with a grin as he shut down his computer.
It was their code, a playful way to signal it was time to go out and hunt.
"Alright!"
Evelyn stretched, having just finished an episode of her show, and got up from the couch.
Logan couldn't help but stare as she stretched, her fiery figure momentarily distracting him.
"How about… we sleep a little before heading out?"
Evelyn teased, noticing his lingering gaze. She licked her lips suggestively and leaned in closer, her eyes filled with mischief.
"If we sleep now, we won't make it out at all,"
Logan replied hurriedly, slipping on his shoes as he rushed to the door, trying to resist the temptation. Evelyn's laughter followed him as he fled.
On the rooftop of the tallest building in the city, two figures stood beneath the stars.
One of them was Zach Xun, the owner of Rendall's BBQ, who had disappeared after the restaurant's scandal. He was still dressed in his signature sharp suit, his handsome face adorned with the same charming smile.
But the woman beside him was far more striking.
Dressed in a seductive, low-cut evening gown that perfectly accentuated her hourglass figure, her pale, radiant skin gleamed in the moonlight. Her flowing, wavy hair framed a face of otherworldly beauty, her long, shapely legs complemented by dangerously high heels.
This woman was no ordinary beauty—she was a temptress, a demon in disguise.
"The pathetic remnants of the old world are still clinging to life, but I'm eager to witness the dawn of a new era,"
the woman said, her voice dripping with allure, each word pulling at the deepest desires of any man who heard it.
"They are fools. The new world we seek is within our grasp,"
Zach replied with reverence. He stood a half-step behind her, his head bowed slightly, careful never to meet her gaze directly.
"We?"
The woman laughed mockingly, her eyes filled with disdain.
"What makes you think you're part of this? You're not even in the mage circle yet. You're nothing compared to me."
"I'm sorry, I overstepped. Please forgive my impertinence,"
Zach immediately bent at a ninety-degree angle, apologizing humbly to the enchanting woman.
"Hmph,"
she scoffed before asking,
"Is everything ready?"
"Yes, everything is in place, awaiting your command,"
Zach answered, still bent in submission.
"Good. Let's begin. My birthday is coming up, and I want this grand event to serve as the opening ceremony,"
she said, her lips curling into a wicked smile as she imagined the chaos to come.
"Understood, Lady Ashwood,"
Zach responded obediently. His lips trembled as if he wanted to say more but hesitated, fearing her wrath.
"Speak. Don't waste my time, or I'll kill you where you stand,"
Lady Ashwood said coldly, her back still turned to Zach as she watched the cars moving along the streets below.
"I… I've found a beautiful young woman from the old world, one who matches your criteria. I'd like to offer her to you,"
Zach mustered the courage to speak, bracing himself for her response.
He had no idea if this would please or anger the dangerous woman standing before him.
"Oh? You've piqued my interest,"
Lady Ashwood smiled slightly and turned to look at him, amused.
"She's clean, right? Untainted by your disgusting food?"
"Of course, I made sure she's pure—perfect for you,"
Zach said, barely able to contain his excitement.
"Bring her to me. If she satisfies me, I'll give you a favorable evaluation,"
Lady Ashwood said, her tone softening slightly. Zach was overwhelmed with joy, feeling as though he had received a great honor.
"Thank you, Lady Ashwood! I'll deliver the gift to your residence immediately and proceed with the plan,"
he said, bowing deeply once more.
"Foolish creature…"
Lady Ashwood thought as she glanced at him in contempt. Without another word, she dissolved into a cloud of black smoke and vanished from the rooftop.
Alone on the rooftop, Zach clenched his fists in excitement. His face flushed with triumph as he gazed up at the night sky and shouted.
"The old world will be my ticket to the new one!"
