The Black Water Creature

"Captain Vale! We've spotted the werewolf!" The Bureau of Supernatural Affairs team in the eastern district of Ravencreek called in, delivering the news that made Sienna Vale's pulse quicken.

"Where is it? Has it harmed any civilians?" Sienna barked into the phone, motioning for her team to continue assisting the local residents while she jumped into her car, revving the engine.

"It's running across the rooftops, heading toward the food district!" the agent reported.

"And… it saved a few people."

"Got it. Keep protecting the civilians. I'm heading there now!" Sienna hung up, released the handbrake, and floored the gas pedal. The car surged forward at an impressive speed as she raced towards the shopping district.

Logan leapt from rooftop to rooftop, effortlessly clearing the gaps between buildings as he sped toward the food district. His goal was clear—he wanted to uncover what exactly was behind the strange happenings at Rendall's BBQ.

Any plot that could cause this much chaos had to be connected to a powerful supernatural entity.

As he passed an alleyway, he spotted a mother and daughter being chased by crazed attackers. The woman was nearly out of breath, and the little girl had just tripped, letting out a gut-wrenching cry as she hit the ground.

Logan glanced at them and, without hesitation, leapt down from the fourth floor of the building he was on. With a swift spin of his body, he sent the attackers flying with a carefully controlled tail swipe. Though they were knocked to the ground, they soon struggled to their feet, intent on resuming their chase.

But Logan wasn't planning on sticking around to fight. He rushed forward, grabbed two of the attackers by the head, and slammed their skulls together with a resounding crack, knocking them unconscious. The remaining attacker was swiftly shoved into a wall, rendering him unconscious as well.

Without sparing a second glance at the terrified mother and daughter, Logan jumped back up to the second floor. His claws dug into the side of the building, and he vaulted back onto the rooftop, continuing his high-speed journey across the rooftops.

The woman stood trembling, her voice hoarse from screaming. Once the terrifying werewolf was out of sight, she gathered her crying daughter in her arms and fled the alley, muttering,

"So scary… so terrifying…"

Soon, Logan reached Rendall's BBQ. The police had likely been called away to assist elsewhere, leaving the area deserted. Only the white caution tape sealed off the entrance to the restaurant.

Logan crouched on a nearby rooftop, surveying the situation and considering his next move.

"The Bureau already searched the place. If there was anything supernatural inside, they would've fought it. So, I doubt there's anything left in there,"

he thought. But then, he considered using his heightened senses to investigate further.

"Maybe I can sniff out something they missed."

Just as he was about to act, a man in a sharp suit appeared on the street. He walked calmly down the road, completely unfazed by the chaos surrounding him. The crazed attackers didn't even glance in his direction.

Logan's wolfish eyes narrowed. This man looked familiar.

As soon as the man opened the door to Rendall's BBQ, Logan remembered—Zach Xun, the owner of the restaurant and the wanted fugitive from the news.

Zach entered the restaurant, admiring his handiwork as if he were a proud artist.

"A year of planning, and this place finally served its purpose,"

he muttered to himself, running his hands along the soft leather of the booth seats and admiring the beast-themed paintings on the walls.

"It's time to let you out. You've been cooped up underground for too long,"

Zach said, placing his palm on one of the paintings. Thick, black fog began pouring from his body, seeping into the wall.

Suddenly, the ground shook violently. The tables, chairs, lights, and decorations in the restaurant rattled and toppled over. Glass shattered as windows exploded, and it felt like a small earthquake had hit the area.

Logan watched from the rooftop, confused and alarmed. The entire restaurant was sinking into the ground, the tremors radiating outwards, shaking the nearby buildings.

"What the hell is happening? Charging in blindly would've been stupid,"

he thought, realizing the danger too late.

As the dust began to clear, Logan noticed that it wasn't simply dispersing naturally—it was being blown away by some unseen force.

Where Rendall's BBQ once stood, there was now a massive black pit, bubbling with a foul-smelling, dark liquid. The liquid churned, releasing ominous gas bubbles.

"What is that?"

Logan's senses screamed danger. He crouched low, exposing only his glowing wolf eyes as he peered down into the abyss.

"You hungry?"

Zach asked in a sing-song voice, as if talking to a child.

"Time to wake up. You can eat whatever you want—you're free now."

Suddenly, a massive, grotesque tentacle shot out of the black liquid, aiming straight at Zach with terrifying speed, slicing through the air with a sharp hiss.

"Now, now. I'm not your dinner,"

Zach said casually, effortlessly jumping backward and appearing several meters away, well out of the tentacle's reach.

"Put on a good show for Lady Ashwood, okay? Let's see how much of Ravencreek you can devour. I'm curious to find out myself,"

Zach said with a smirk, turning away from the pit.

Logan watched the entire scene unfold from his vantage point, though he couldn't hear what Zach was saying.

Suddenly, the black liquid surged upward, spilling out in all directions. A horrendous, fanged creature emerged from the pit, its massive mouth lined with rows of sharp teeth. It let out a bone-chilling shriek, its monstrous roar echoing across the city.
