Severing the Tentacles

Just as Eric had predicted, Logan's plan was to entangle the creature's numerous tentacles with themselves. With so many whipping around, once they got knotted together, the massive beast wouldn't be able to easily break free.

Logan weaved in and out of the thrashing tendrils with incredible agility, carefully leading one set of tentacles into another. As they started to wind around each other, he twisted and dodged until the time was right. Then, with a firm grip on two tangled appendages, he pulled back with all his strength, leveraging the massive weight of the abomination against itself.

The tentacles jerked and pulled, creating a web of intertwined limbs that slowed the monster's movements. It was trapped in its own chaos, unable to untangle the mess.

"Now! Attack!" Logan howled, his wolfen voice echoing through the battlefield. His claws were burning from the corrosive liquid, but he gritted his teeth through the pain.

Sienna was the first to react, charging forward with her signature weapon, the ring-handled greatsword. With a swift, clean strike, she severed several tentacles in a single swing. Eric followed closely behind, his sword unleashing multiple arcs of slicing energy that cleaved through more of the beast's limbs.

The rest of the team quickly joined the attack. One hunter fired enchanted arrows, their tips glowing with dark energy. Another lit a small, seemingly ordinary cigarette lighter and blew, sending fireballs hurling toward the creature. Yet another unleashed a flurry of razor-sharp playing cards, each one slashing through the abomination's appendages before magically returning to his hands.

Logan watched in awe. The variety of weapons and abilities wielded by these hunters was staggering. This truly was the force of humanity's defense against the supernatural.

With its tentacles sliced away, the bull-headed creature let out a pained, guttural roar. Black blood sprayed from its wounds, corroding everything it touched. Now it stood alone, a hulking, defenseless mass of flesh with only a few stubby tentacles left twitching pathetically.

Logan released the remains of the tentacle he'd been holding, letting it fall limp to the ground. His claws were scorched and raw from the acidic blood, but already they were beginning to heal, a testament to his regenerative abilities.

"Spread out!" Sienna ordered. "It still has that acid spray! Don't let it catch you off guard."

Sienna wasted no time. She sprinted toward the monster, using its bloated, wobbling body as a stepping stone. Her goal was clear—the head.

Logan, no less determined, leaped into the air, landing beside her on the creature's back. Together, they eyed their target: its eyes, the most vulnerable part of the beast.

Without hesitation, they struck in unison. Logan's claws raked across the creature's left eye, gouging it deeply. Sienna, wielding her greatsword with expert precision, thrust it directly into the right eye and twisted, eliciting a spray of black, corrosive fluid.

The monster bellowed in agony, its massive body lurching and shaking violently as it tried to dislodge the two attackers. Its thrashing sent shockwaves through the ground, toppling nearby debris and shaking the buildings around them like an earthquake.

Logan and Sienna both jumped back to the ground, retreating just in time as the creature went into a full-blown frenzy.

"We wait," Sienna said, signaling her squad to hold back. Despite the monster's obvious pain and blindness, it was too dangerous to approach during its frenzied state. She couldn't afford to lose another teammate, not after Quinn.

"How do we kill this thing?" Eric asked as he joined Sienna, his sword visibly dimmer from the repeated attacks.

"It's tricky," Sienna admitted, frustration in her voice. "Our close-range fighters can't risk it. That black blood is too dangerous."

"Let me draw its attention again," Logan growled, his voice a raspy snarl. "You hit it from behind."

Sienna glanced at Logan, her expression unreadable. "All right. We'll follow your lead."

Logan's eyes were locked on the thrashing beast, gauging its movements. "Wait for it to stop thrashing, then hit it with everything you've got."

Sienna nodded. "Once it slows down, we strike."

They stood in tense silence, watching the creature rage against its wounds. Its once-majestic horns were now chipped, and its bloated body was riddled with gashes. Even so, the monster wasn't done yet—it still had enough fight left in it to be dangerous.

As they waited, Logan couldn't help but ask, "Why doesn't your squad have heavy artillery? Surely there's a faster way to deal with monsters this size."

Sienna shot him a sharp look, her icy demeanor returning. "You're an anomaly. You don't get to know everything we do."

Logan let out a scoff. "I've risked my life for you guys—saved your teammates, even."

"You're helping yourself too, aren't you?" Sienna's lips curved into a rare smile, cold but strangely captivating. "Don't pretend you're doing this out of the goodness of your heart."

Logan felt a shiver run down his spine at her smile, instinctively sensing the danger in this human woman. He brushed it off with a chuckle, muttering, "Humans sure are tricky."

Before Sienna could respond, the beast's thrashing finally began to subside. Its massive body swayed, weakened but not yet defeated.

"Now!" Logan growled, baring his fangs. "Hit it from behind while I keep it focused!"

As Logan darted toward the front of the beast to distract it, Sienna and her team moved into position for the final strike.
