"Traitors or not, they are still human we just have to take away that stupid illusion. We can defeat the vampires" The old voice sounded utterly confident.
His belief was firm, he was saved by one of the soldiers while trying to evacuate from his home to a bunker. That soldier gave his life but managed to take with him the one vampire that was chasing them.
It was a common vampire, mundane, without magic. He had already killed hundreds of hundreds of humans with ease. Already after multiple sacrifices and several wasted silver bullets. They managed to kill a vampire.
That was a victory for him and those who watched.
The vampires could die and they could defend themselves. The humans could win the war, they just had to fight harder, sacrifice more and their fight would not be in vain. But in the end they lost, the vampires were powerful, the destruction of Italy was a clear message.
If God exists then he is not on the side of the humans.
