Chapter Three: Settling in Konoha

The sun dipped low over Konoha, casting a warm, golden hue over the village as I stood by the window of my temporary quarters. After days of intense training and chakra assessments with Tsunade and Team 7, I had finally been given a place to stay—a small, simple apartment tucked away near the edge of the village. It was a peaceful space, a quiet refuge from the chaos that had thrown me into this world.

I stared out the window, watching the village below. Children played in the streets, ninja leaped across rooftops, and villagers went about their daily lives. It all felt so normal, but I couldn't shake the weight of everything that had happened.

Suddenly, a faint pulse of energy rippled through me, pulling my attention inward. It had been happening more frequently ever since I had absorbed that strange orb. The sensation wasn't painful, but it was unnerving—like there was something inside me, waking up.

Ding.

A soft chime echoed in my head, and before I could process it, a system interface flashed into view, overlaid with a series of numbers and categories. It wasn't sentient or intrusive, just... there. Cold, mechanical, and efficient. It was as though my mind had naturally integrated with it, like it was part of the power I had absorbed from the orb.

Initializing...

Chakra Levels: 45/100

Nature Affinity: 75%

Physical Strength: 50

Dexterity: 60

Endurance: 55

Control Over Nature Chakra: 30%

Boot-up 100% complete.

I blinked, trying to make sense of the information scrolling through my mind. It felt like a status report, as if my body had been quantified by this strange power—broken down into stats like a video game character.

What the hell?

I focused on the numbers, willing the system to explain them, but nothing happened. There were no additional prompts, no voice guiding me through this. It was just raw data, waiting for me to interpret. I exhaled, calming my thoughts. It looked like this system was tied to my abilities, giving me a glimpse into my chakra reserves and physical condition.

Chakra Levels: 45/100.

My chakra was almost half depleted—probably from the day's training.

Nature Affinity: 75%.

That made sense. My connection to nature had been the strongest aspect of my powers so far, ever since that orb fused with me.

Control Over Nature Chakra: 30%.

Not great, but not surprising. I had been struggling to maintain a steady flow of chakra without causing plants to overgrow or go haywire.

I took a deep breath, trying to wrap my head around it. This system wasn't here to guide me—it was a tool, a way to monitor my progress. If I wanted to get stronger, I'd need to push these numbers higher on my own.

Just as I was processing this, a knock came at the door. I quickly dismissed the interface with a thought, and the numbers faded from view.

The door slid open, and Tsunade walked in. Her sharp, amber eyes assessed the room, then locked onto me.

"How are you settling in?" she asked, her voice calm but commanding.

"It's... peaceful," I replied, still shaken by the system. "But I feel like I don't belong here."

Tsunade stepped forward, crossing her arms. "That's normal. You've been thrown into a world you don't understand, with powers you can barely control. But Konoha has a way of making people feel at home, even outsiders like you."

I nodded, my mind still focused on the strange interface. Should I mention it? No... I didn't even fully understand it yet.

"I don't know if I'll ever be able to control this power," I admitted.

Tsunade studied me for a moment before placing a hand on my shoulder. "That's why we're training you, step by step. You've got time to learn. I'm having you work with Yamato and Team 7. Yamato can use wood-style jutsu. He's the best person to help you manage your connection to nature."

I nodded, still feeling the lingering presence of the system in the back of my mind.

"You'll have help," she continued. "Kakashi will check in as well. He's got experience with unusual powers. His insights could be useful."

I wanted to ask more questions, but one thing was nagging at me. "What about Sasuke?" I asked. "He doesn't trust me. He barely speaks to me during training."

Tsunade's eyes darkened for a moment, but she shook her head. "Sasuke's wary of outsiders, especially those with unusual abilities. Give him time. Prove to him that you can control your power, and he'll come around."

I wasn't sure if she believed that herself. Sasuke's cold stares weren't just caution; there was something deeper, a mistrust that wouldn't easily fade. But I nodded anyway, grateful for the reassurance.

Tsunade turned to leave but paused at the door. "And, Alex, remember this power chose you for a reason. Don't doubt yourself too much."

With that, she left, and I was alone again.

The system flickered back into view, the numbers as clear as ever.

I had no idea why I was here, or how this system had come to be a part of me. But Tsunade was right. There was a reason for all of this, and if I wanted to figure it out, I'd need to keep pushing myself—to raise those stats, gain control, and prove to myself, and to Konoha, that I could handle this.
