[You have been eliminated and cannot obtain a revival slot. Reward: +1% Spider Mutation Gene Toxin Resistance.]
[30 restarts remaining. Restarts?]
Within the cosmic web, Charlie awoke looking utterly confused.
"What happened?"
He stared at his own hands, carefully recalling what had happened before.
Gwen's friend appeared, and then everything was over.
He had no idea what happened.
His vision went black, and then he was eliminated.
"Cindy?"
Charlie scratched his head. "Could it be her?"
He was unsure, but it didn't matter—he'd find out soon enough.
As a strange, tingling sensation arose within him, it felt like his very soul was elevated.
His Spider Mutation Gene Toxin Resistance had increased, meaning that substances like the gene destroyer—targeting mutated spider genes—would inflict far less damage on his body.
He just didn't know how much resistance was needed to completely negate the harm from such toxins.
Charlie guessed it wouldn't take too high a percentage, especially since the Titan's Body already weakened the effect of gene toxins to some extent.
Unless an enemy specifically crafted a gene destroyer targeting both Titans and Spider-Man.
But that was almost impossible.
Thinking this, Charlie tapped [Restart!]
"Buzz~"
The void swallowed Charlie's figure.
Nighttime, atop the Empire State Building.
This time, Charlie didn't wait where he was for Elderly Steve; he jumped straight off the skyscraper.
Relying on the information he obtained last time, he decided to move faster.
"Whew~"
A fierce wind howled. Unfolding the glider wings, Charlie's figure swept rapidly toward the streets.
At that moment, Elderly Steve was standing by the roadside, trying to hail a cab.
"Mister, I need to go to the Empire State Building, but I don't have any money. How about I sing you a song? I'm great at performing."
"Get lost!"
The cab driver cursed and drove away.
Elderly Steve shook his head, "So rude."
"Hey, old man, catch!"
Charlie swooped overhead and tossed down a web-shooter.
"Carter's in the next block, secretly eating a McDonna burger. Find her, then go to the Jacques Apartments in the Financial District and wait for me."
"Little Spider, you really died. That's wonderful."
Elderly Steve raised his hand, catching the web-shooter, and watched Charlie swing away with an excited look.
"He must have come to find me first thing. I'm so moved!"
"Wait, four web-shooters? Does he want me to teach Carter how to use them?"
Staring at the web-shooters in his hand, Elderly Steve couldn't help but laugh.
"In that case, I don't need a taxi."
He equipped the web-shooter, then leapt and began firing webs, zipping between skyscrapers.
Meanwhile, Charlie flipped and landed on the rooftop billboard.
Scanning the nearby residential buildings, his gaze locked onto a dark figure under a water tank not far away.
"Gwen-Spider Universe? Resurrection Match?"
Felicia was standing there with a baffled look, gazing at the city that felt both familiar and strange, her mind racing until she quickly figured it out.
"Oh, so that's it. This is the secret to Spider-Man's immortality. Finally, I understand."
Felicia couldn't help being excited.
"First, I need to find Captain Carter."
"No need."
Charlie swung down to land in front of Felicia, the nano-mask retracting.
"We meet again, white-haired Spider-Man," he greeted with a wave.
The instant Felicia saw Charlie, her eyes shone with shock.
"You're… Charlie Parker, so you're actually Spider-Man!" she exclaimed.
Charlie shrugged, "Yes. Ready to join another dangerous, thrilling Resurrection Match?"
"Wait, I'm not sure I'm ready yet."
"Don't worry, this time I'll carry you to victory."
Right after Charlie spoke, a green tail-flame soared across the night sky.
"Spider-Man, I've found you, hahaha—"
Norman, riding his glider, rushed at Charlie. But he soon realized something.
"No, I can't beat him right now…"
"Crack crack~"
"Pow!!"
In the next instant, four dark-gold mechanical arms tore through the air, instantly engulfing Norman's figure.
"Rip…"
Fragments of the green armor dropped onto the rooftop. Norman's head was shoved into the water tank by Charlie.
"I'm gonna pour some dust in your eyes."
"No, that's water—ugh, waah, pft pft…"
The shattered tank gurgled and bubbled. Before long, Norman fell still.
Seeing Charlie treat the pitiful Green Goblin so ruthlessly and violently, Felicia gulped and instinctively stepped back.
Spotting Felicia's somewhat fearful look, Charlie released Norman, turned around, and smiled. "It's all right. He won't hold a grudge against me."
Felicia: "…"
He's dead—how could he hold a grudge?
Very soon, a petite figure swung in on webs.
Gwen had been tracking the Green Goblin.
Leaping onto the rooftop, she looked at her Uncle Norman drowned in the water tank, then at the red-and-blue-suited Spider-Man, unable to hold back her surprise.
"Spider-Man?"
"Buzz~"
In the next moment, a pink spider totem emerged on her chest, and a strange impulse coursed through her body, compelling her to approach Charlie.
"No, my body…"
"Chirp, chirp, chirp~"
At that moment, the Little Spider jumped out of nowhere, landing on Gwen's shoulder. The instant its two fangs pierced her skin, some mutated cells were injected into her.
As those mutated cells invaded her body, Gwen's own mutated cells, like ravenous wolves, instantly devoured the invading cells.
In craving this "food," they suppressed Gwen's desire to mate.
The pink totem gradually faded, and Gwen quickly regained her composure.
"Charlie Parker?"
Right after that, Lizard Parker, a quiet and honest fellow, arrived on the rooftop with Gwen.
Seeing Charlie, his eyes lit up with delight.
"I never expected to meet you again… Wait, you're playing the match?" Lizard Parker realized.
Charlie nodded, "Yes. I died again."
"As expected, you're useless," Lizard Parker said disdainfully.
"You two know each other?" Gwen frowned.
Lizard Parker nodded, about to explain when Charlie cut him off.
"Let's talk somewhere else first."
"Where to?" Gwen asked.
Charlie looked at her, "Your place."
"No, my home isn't convenient."
"I mean your new home, that big flat in the Financial District."
"What? How did you know?"
"I also know the key's on you."
Half an hour later.
They arrived at Gwen's new place.
Seeing how Charlie went in and effortlessly found the slippers, Gwen's mouth twitched slightly.
"You act more like you live here than I do."
Charlie waved a hand, "I can't afford it."
Gwen sighed, "Feels too weird."
At the side, Lizard Parker explained, "You'll get used to it. It's part of his superpower."
"Superpower? Does Spider-Man have a power like that?" Gwen asked doubtfully.
Elderly Steve grinned, "Not only that, his superpower can sense poop too."
"What?" Gwen was startled.
"Shut up," Charlie glared at them. "I don't want a first, second, third, or… seventh person to know about it."
Elderly Steve spread his hands, "Sorry, it's far more than seven. After Natasha was revived, she wrote an autobiography. Probably seven billion people know by now."
"What?"
Charlie's face darkened. "I absolutely have to head to Kamar-Taj and find the Sorcerer Supreme to make everyone forget about this."
"Good luck with that."
Elderly Steve set his shield down, "Let's talk about our plan now."
Charlie tapped the nano-device on his wrist, and a map of New York popped up as a hologram.
"It's simple. You ambush around the Brooklyn Bridge in a bit, find Mysterio, and kill him. Leave the rest to me."
Based on Kingpin's intel, Mysterio had been hiding under the bridge and had already released hallucinogenic smoke. That was how he badly disrupted Charlie's Spider-Sense last time, preventing him from successfully killing the Black Order.
"Mysterio?" Elderly Steve thought. "No problem. I can probably find him."
Gwen frowned, "Mysterio's illusions are terrifying. You're sure you can pinpoint his real location?"
Elderly Steve pointed to his eyes, "Just one chance, but that's enough."
Lizard Parker looked pensive and spoke to Charlie, "So your superpower isn't fully awakened yet. Do we really know what the world crisis is?"
On the way here, they'd already shared basic information.
Charlie shook his head, "This time it's tricky, but give it a few more tries, and we'll figure it out."
Carter and the others looked at each other.
"What's he talking about?"
"No idea, but it must be about his superpower."
"Sounds pretty amazing."
Elderly Steve clapped and laughed, "Let's carry out the first step of the plan, everyone, move ou—"
He paused halfway.
"Little Spider, we could have discussed this on the way. No need to come inside."
Charlie opened the fridge, "I know, but I wanted to come in for a couple drinks of juice.
Anybody want any? I can share half with you," he said, looking back.
Everyone: "…"
Gwen whispered to Lizard Parker, "I feel this guy is unreliable."
Lizard Parker shook his head, "I disagree. If you were his enemy, you'd know the meaning of despair."
Before long, they headed out.
Brooklyn Bridge.
On the bridge, the Black Order was wreaking havoc.
Under the bridge, Mysterio was fiddling with his holographic device, grumbling intermittently.
"Is it really necessary to be this cautious? Those guys don't look easy to provoke, but there's no way Spider-Man can beat them. If we want to work together, just invite them. This is a hassle."
"Actually, it's not a hassle at all."
"What?"
Suddenly, a dark figure swung under the bridge, landing atop the metal supports. Before Mysterio could hurl hallucinogenic smoke, a shield whirled through the air.
"No!"
"Pshhh!"
Immediately, the glass dome on Mysterio's neck tumbled into the water below, and the shield ricocheted back into Elderly Steve's grip.
"No challenge at all."
He tapped his earpiece, "I'm done here. Let's head to Hell's Kitchen and wait for Little Spider."
Gwen, nearby, hesitated. She glanced at the four figures on the bridge, whose oppressive aura set off frantic alarms in her Spider-Sense.
"These guys are terrifying. We're really leaving him alone?"
"Don't worry. He's got it," Carter began, but before she could finish, in the night sky, a radiant spider totem manifested.
[100% Crit!]
After restarting, Charlie's Kill Value was reset again.
"He's acting this fast?" Lizard Parker blinked.
Seeing the spider totem in the sky converge into a meteor rushing down, Felicia was both terrified and strangely puzzled.
"Why didn't he use this move against Kingpin?"
Carter thought for a moment, "Maybe he forgot."
"I'm telling you, Little Spider did it on purpose. He must really want to see me, so he got himself killed on purpose," Elderly Steve's voice came through, and Carter abruptly turned to leave.
"Don't listen to that nonsense. Listening too much makes you dumb."
Right then, the bridge thundered violently as the brilliant meteor tore apart the telekinetic iron walls, finally engulfing Ebony Maw.
Before plunging into the sea, the meteor's light erupted. Four mechanical arms latched onto the broken edge of the bridge, and Charlie leapt onto the bridge surface.
"He's here again!"
Proxima Midnight hastily flung her spear, but the mechanical arms lunged first.
"Pshhh!"
"No!!"
Corvus Glaive watched helplessly as his lover was impaled by a mechanical arm. He let out a heart-rending roar.
"Why are you screaming so loud— how annoying."
The radiant spider totem shone again, and Corvus Glaive was blasted into ash by the magical explosion.
Before he could regenerate, Charlie fired a web to snatch the Glaive of the Dead into his hand.
"Die!"
"Slash…"
Sweeping the blade sideways, a magical flash hissed by. Cull Obsidian was split in two, and Corvus Glaive, who had just formed half his body, vanished once more.
Carter and the others had scarcely walked away, and Charlie had already effortlessly wiped out the Black Order.
Watching the weapons disappear, Charlie left in relief.
[Kill Points: 80]
Next, Hell's Kitchen.
Among the buildings, a red-and-blue figure swooped swiftly. Everywhere he passed, enemies collapsed silently.
[Kill Value: 100]
Having accumulated enough kill value, the 100% Crit triggered again.
At Kingpin's villa, a brilliant meteor manifested once more in the night sky.
"What's going on?"
Sensing the terrible pressure overhead, Hydra Steve—waiting for Mysterio's update—looked alarmed.
"Crap, a missile!"
"No, a meteor!" From the window, the Chameleon pointed at the blazing light falling from the sky, completely stunned by the sight.
Seeing this, Kingpin dashed for the door without hesitation.
"Damn it, who the hell tipped them off that we're gathering here… which bastard—"
"Rumble!!"
Before he could escape, the brilliant meteor crashed down. Majestic magical energy unleashed a horrific shockwave that leveled the entire villa in an instant.
Before long, Elderly Steve had finished off the dying Kingpin and the others.
"All settled. Where's Little Spider?"
He looked around and couldn't find Charlie.
Carter pointed in a direction, "I saw him heading that way."
Simultaneously, above the streets of Hell's Kitchen…
As Charlie swung through the air, he finally spotted a black motorcycle roaring along the road.
Locking onto the license plate, Charlie confirmed that must be Kingpin's so-called "great master."
The timing and place matched perfectly.
He really wanted to know who it was that could command Kingpin.
With that in mind, he catapulted himself from a web "slingshot."
"Boom!"
A fierce wind whipped past. The figure on the motorcycle glanced aside and sharply twisted the throttle.
"Vroom!"
The bike's front wheel lifted, speed suddenly surging.
"Whoa, Need for Speed."
Charlie nearly slammed into the ground but flipped at the last moment, shooting another web into the air, instantly springing back up.
"Oh my god, what is that?"
"Spider-Man?"
"No way, Spider-Man's supposed to be a woman, right?"
"His webs look so weird…"
Charlie's appearance threw the traffic into chaos.
The speeding motorcycle didn't slow, but Charlie was faster still.
