The door creaked as it was pushed by the young lad "This is you" he said before leaving Akena with her room to get familiar around it's corners. Akena stepped forward looking at the wide room surprised by it's spaciousness. She stared at the walls in awe but soon her expression shifted to a confused one. The room was desolated and unattended. The state of the entire building was awry but not as much as the room seemed to be.
Akena brushed her fingertips along the lines following it's patterns sliding through the beat up wood and dust. She paused in her act as her tip fell upon a name. A name had been engraved on a corner. Her heart soon filled itself with dismay when she noticed the shabby writing. "Annie" , she muttered. THUD. She was taken aback by the sudden closing of the door. "Hello?" she asked the presence that lingered outside the door confirmed by the creakiness of the floor it stood on.
A feeling of trepidation filled her body as the dark and confined area started to suffocate her with the memories of the recent events. She rushed to the door and banged her fist on it- "Hey!! Open the goddamn door!!", she pulled on the knob and continued banging along. The sensation of the cold breath falling on her shoulder and the shadows that haunted her hadn't left her mind yet . She couldn't help but feel panicked as she desperately held onto the knob, banging and shouting "Stop this and open up!!" and the door finally opened making her stumble onto the boy that had unlocked the door. She stopped just as her body was about to touch his but his fingers didn't miss grazing her body as his arms extended in an attempt to stop her fall. His skin felt cold, freezing cold, it was definitely not a normal body temperature.
Relieved, she finally freely breathed now, her chest heaving from the breaths she had missed. "Mother doesn't like noise, your voice has annoyed her. It's her last warning she said". Akena furrowed her eyebrows and let out a scoff at the ridiculousness at the words he had just uttered. "Are you people serious right now?!". "Lower your tone." he said, his voice dangerously low. Akena couldn't help letting out another scoff mockingly. "You were the ones who locked me in there! and you expect to stay quiet?!", Akena's breath quickened with fury. Zark raised an eyebrow at the accusation." Have you grown senile?", his voice calming and daring while his expression remained cold and indifferent. "There's no lock on the door first of all. The door must've closed due to the wind and since it's been long it could've grown rusty."
Akena couldn't believe the absurdity of the situation. "You're kidding." Zark didn't bother to contribute even an ounce of effort to convince the girl anymore. "Do not make any noise or you'll be sleeping in the attic." He left. He walked away after speaking the words he had climbed up the stairs to speak while Akena stood there still in disbelief. Was it her delusion ? the shadow she claimed to have seen? Or was Zark lying ? or perhaps neither of them lied..
Akena was convinced she would never be able to sleep in an enclosed area anymore, she had to do something about this door. She descended the stairs, the floor creaked loudly at every step of hers. Now she stood at the center of the living room painted with drab colors, filled with an eerie air , she turned her head, looking to her sides to identify the master bedroom belonging to the adults of the house. To her right was Zark's room and then to her left was the door, most different from all with a darkly tinted wood and a cross hung on the top center of the door...must be the parent's room, she assumed.
She paced herself towards the room slowly, the wood creaked beneath her feet as she reached the room, approaching the door. She slid her fingers on the knob of the door slowly turning it. A gust of wind brushed against her face, the same cold wind she had felt following her, at every step, everywhere. Just as the dark room's door was pushed forward a hand held the knob on top of Akena's hand, with a tightened grip pulling it back with a quick pace to shut the door immediately. Just when Akena turned her head to look at the hand's owner, another hand striked her cheek with a strong force making her head turn completely to the opposite side. There stood the tall woman, glaring at her, fuming with anger. "You insolent little rat, What did i tell you about leaving your room?", her tone, dangerously low and filled with anger. Akena's body shivered at the woman's cold glare.
"Get out! "- She shrieked.
