A strangled noise left her throat as she quickly grabbed his hand, squeezing it tight. "No, no—Human Doll, shh, I'm here," she whispered, her voice cracking as she brushed his damp hair back.
His breathing grew uneven. His hands clenched the sheets as his body trembled violently.
"Sebastian!" she called, panic creeping into her tone. She never called him that. But right now, she didn't know who she was reaching for—Alexander? Gray? Ray?
She just needed him to wake up.
Tears burned at the back of her eyes, but she refused to cry. Instead, she pressed the emergency call button frantically, almost breaking it. "Doctor!!" she shouted.
He was gasping now, chest rising and falling too fast. His lips parted like he wanted to say something, but the only sound that escaped was a weak, broken breath.
Lilith clutched his hand, pressing it against her cheek. "Shh, I'm here. Just wake up. Please…"
The machine started beeping erratically.
