Gray couldn't shake the feeling growing inside him.
The way Lilith walked through the palace, not like a tourist admiring something new, but like someone who had seen it all before. The way her eyes lingered on certain structures, how she seemed to know every little detail, not just the obvious things, but the purpose behind them, things most people dismissed as mere decoration.
She wasn't surprised by anything. Not the fortress walls, not the hidden passageways, not even the ancient engravings that others barely noticed.
And then there was that look in her eyes.
Deep. Distant. Nostalgic.
Why?
Gray's fingers tapped against his arm as he observed her.
Maybe she just liked historical places. That was the easiest explanation. The most logical one.
Anything beyond that was impossible. Right?
The next day, their trip came to an end.
