"Do you, Sebastian Carter," the priest began, "take Lilith Parker to be your lawfully wedded wife? To love her, honor her, protect her, in darkness and in light, in strength and in weakness, for all the days of your life?"
Ray's lips curved into the softest smile that innocent, bright smile only Lilith ever got to see. He squeezed her fingers tight, his voice steady but sweet as he looked right into her eyes.
"I do."
The priest turned to Lilith, whose eyes were locked on him with that same sharp, stormy tenderness. Her lips parted softly as the priest spoke again:
"And do you, Lilith Parker, take Sebastian Carter to be your lawfully wedded husband? To stand by him, to guard him, to cherish him through every season and storm, for all the days of your life?"
Lilith's eyes never left his. She nodded once then said, her voice low but steady,
"I do."
