Letty awoke to the sizzling of a kettle. Her vision was blurry at first, gaining in and out. Then she heard a voice, it was of Mia's.
"Finally awake?" She said, her voice distant. When Letty eventually gained her sight, she sat up.
"Hmmm...where are we?" Letty grunted as she opened up the windowpane to look out; it was nighttime. She stood up, as she searched around. When she finally searched the nook and cranny of the room, she realized they were back at Mia's home. "I guess I am."
"What happened to you? You went AWOL, not contacting anyone, and now you got into a fight?"
"I got information for us by the way," Letty replied, ignoring her probing. "Would you care to listen?"
"You are not answering my questions, Letty."
"Hi, I heard about you. I am Giselle." A slim lady with a tight high-braided ponytail approached Letty with a gesture of a handshake. "Care to shake hands?"
Letty sized her up for a minute, before replying, "Nah, and who are you?"
Letty faced Mia. "Who is she?"
"Let's just say, you might not have been alive if not for help. That is who she is." Mia replied. "Now answer my question."
"Whatever, give me something to eat. Then, I am willing to answer your questions. After that, we can talk business."
After the meal, Letty let in on how she came seeking information from Miguel, since she had heard Cilghal escaped prison. How she had gotten in a chase with Cilghal's men and how she ended up on the block, well before she was rescued by Giselle, as Mia had told her. She later apologizes to her, letting Giselle know she was not just all-too-familiar but she assured that things could work between them both. Giselle on the other hand, took no offense.
"So what's with the info?" Mia finally broke the silence after some time.
"Nothing really much, but…" Letty was saying.
"Then why push it?" Mia
"Will you just listen, now?" Letty rolled her eyes.
"Go ahead, if it isn't trash."
Letty scoffed. "Yeah, so I got information from Miguel about the reason why Cilghal's back, looks like he is planning the biggest heist ever, then probably buy the feds off and escape far away."
"What is it about? How does it involve us then?" Mia probed.
"You listen and stop being impatient for once, Mia. I am getting to the part, " Letty replied. "It's talking about an auction that is taking place a fortnight from now. About a prized asset, a treasure of some worth, considered the most bargained for currently. Every top mogul wants their hands on it."
"So in essence, what you are meaning to say is that Cilghal is willing to get it before anyone else?" Giselle finally spoke up. "Who is hosting the event?"
"It goes by the name Harlow Robert, and he is willing to sell it at a high price of five hundred million dollars, that is for a start." Letty folded her arms, sitting up straight.
"Permit me to give some info about Harlow Robert, would you please." Giselle cut in, and Letty nodded. "Well according to what I looked upon him, he is a fucking rich billionaire in the likes of Bill Gates, you can say. He owns the largest A. I technology company, which manufactures smart homes robots, for easy tasks and productions. He's got headquarters and connections in almost half of the world. He is very big, wow!"
"I guess you understand how we come in now, Mia?" Letty asked.
"So to say, you are expecting us to intercept the heist? That's suicide, Letty." Mia stood up, " I mean, do you know how much trouble we would be causing for ourselves? One, is with Cilghal and his entire crew. With that alone, we are fucked. The billionaire, there is no way we are escaping hum ever, he's got connections. Then with the feds?"
"Aww, come on, get it together. It is not like this is our first time taking risks." Letty said.
"Oh, so because I want some goddamn treasure I should risk the whole world crashing down on me? That isn't reason enough."
"Alright, this is what we do, we intercept the piece, hand it over to the feds, and be a good federal citizen."
"Why would we do that? There is no worth." Mia replied.
"Well, it is worthy enough for me in that sense. Why? Cilghal would be gone for good this time, and no qualms about me always looking behind my back. The same goes for the rest of you, why? Cilghal always finds a way to connect the dots. To catch me, he would go after every damn person I know and love. Now you understand what that means."
Mia paused for some moment, willing to speak but the word didn't come out. Then she finally spoke, "Alright, It feels like a counteract but I am just being cautious for all. At least if we wanna do something of the sort, we should make it tangible."
"How?" Giselle said. "In what sense?" At the same time, Letty asked.
"It is required that we need a team for this, we don't want to fucking do it alone—suicide as I said. This is what we do, we intercept the asset, hand it over to the feds. And when I mean the 'feds', I mean, Hobbs; he would certainly be on our tail. But before we hand it over to him, we first make a duplicate. We hand that over instead, for the time being. We find a way to get the treasure to Cilghal after in exchange for a huge ransom. If he doesn't come to reason, we go for plan B."
"And what is plan B?" Giselle asked.
"Good. We plan for a sneak and grab."
"If I could discern what you mean, Mia. We are going to lure him away from his own stash, and steal all that he has in his hold?"
"I believe you can see sense in that, Giselle," Mia replied.
"But how are we planning to do that?" Letty asked this time. She grimaced.
"When that time comes, we would have planned ahead," Mia replied, smiling. "But I hope we know what we are getting into."
