Chapter 5: Part-time Joking

In the original story, Wen Qiao was not favored in the Wen Family; her only use was for a business marriage, and if she couldn't get engaged to Fu Jinghen, her life back at the Wen Family wouldn't be any better.

Thinking about the mess described in the original story about the Wen Family, Wen Qiao felt it was better to stay by Fu Jinghen's side, where at least she only needed to deal with one person.

Moreover, her original identity was in the entertainment industry, and although her reputation wasn't stellar, staying by Fu Jinghen, a walking gold mine, might just help her rise again.

In the room, there was a huge floor-to-ceiling mirror; Wen Qiao stood in front of it, scrutinizing her current appearance.

Her eyes were peach-shaped, with edges that hooked upward, and her thin red lips shimmered enticingly. Her skin was so delicate it seemed like a peeled egg, and a white long-sleeved gown wrapped her from head to toe tightly.

Even so, the excellent figure hidden underneath was not hard to discern.

The appearance of her original body was a perfect match with Wen Qiao's own.

Unlike the typical pale and slender beauty that most female celebrities in the entertainment pursued, Wen Qiao had a bold and mature beauty that was striking, the kind that once seen, would be etched into one's memory.

It seemed that the original author was really particular about looks, giving even a minor character such a beautiful face.

Yet, Wen Qiao didn't appreciate the original's aesthetic. Sporting such a fairy-like face yet adopting the style of a respectable housewife seemed somewhat mismatched.

Decisively, Wen Qiao stripped off her clothes and chose a fiery red cheongsam according to her own taste. The cheongsam reached her knees, and its slit design elongated her legs while the high collar cleverly hid the hickeys on her neck.

She styled her hair into a bun with hairpins, complementing the cheongsam and exuding a vintage Hong Kong vibe.

The mirror showed a transformation from an elegant and pure white lotus to a dazzlingly beautiful rose.

Finally satisfied, Wen Qiao nodded her head and then let out an exclamation—

"Damn, this cute little booty."

Opening the door to leave, Fu Jinghen and his bespectacled assistant just happened to arrive at her room's doorway. Seeing Wen Qiao in her new outfit, the bespectacled man whispered to Fu Jinghen, "Wow, President Fu, Miss Wen looks quite pretty."

Fu Jinghen gave him a cold glance and then turned to Wen Qiao, his brows slightly furrowed, "You're wearing such a bright color; are you going to a state banquet?"

Wen Qiao burst out laughing, "Is there a better day to wear something bright than on an engagement day, or should I wear black as if I'm going to a funeral?"

After saying that, Wen Qiao realized she had just unleashed her toxic tongue. Having just snapped at Heaven's Chosen Son, would he be furious with embarrassment?

To be safe, Wen Qiao decided to make a quick exit. She was about to leave when Fu Jinghen suddenly coughed lightly, "Wait...."

Wen Qiao paused mid-step. Was he calling her?

Turning around in confusion, she saw Fu Jinghen slightly bending his arm.

Understanding, she walked back and slipped her arm through his, her lips curling slightly, "President Fu, are you satisfied with my smile?"

Everybody can play this game, can't they?

Fu Jinghen glanced at her, "Besides juggling, do you also freelance in making people laugh?"

"...."

Got it.

She had almost slapped a huge scandal on him not too long ago and had just snapped at him; him being cold now was to be expected.

Wen Qiao's smile grew even brighter as she extended her other hand in front of him.

Fu Jinghen, puzzled, asked, "What are you doing?"

"Collecting payment. Or did you forget what you just said, President Fu?"

Fu Jinghen glanced at the delicate palm in front of him, "We'll settle the bill after the engagement party ends."
