Chapter 10: The Grudge of the Dog Man

*

By the time Luo Ting picked up Jiang Mian, it was already approaching noon.

The post-rain Su City emitted a sultry breath that somewhat repelled people.

"I tell you, grandma, you really know how to dawdle—it's so late already, be careful or people will say you're acting like a diva again."

Jiang Mian, clad in a silver sequined dress with spaghetti straps, her hair ebony and skin like snow, had eyes glistening with laziness—a breathtaking sight.

Upon seeing Jiang Mian at that moment, Luo Ting's words got caught in her throat.

Considering she looked this stunning today, Luo Ting decided not to lecture her.

Yet, this woman couldn't help herself, murmuring faintly, "Not bad, it's just 12:29."

The business magazine photoshoot was scheduled for 12:30.

Luo Ting grumbled, "Nice job cutting it close."

Jiang Mian responded confidently, "Of course, after all, not everyone has this skill."

It wasn't until they entered the air-conditioned photography studio that Jiang Mian felt much more comfortable.

Luo Ting, walking and looking down, briefed Jiang Mian on today's shooting details, advising her to be mindful of her behavior.

Afraid that this ancestor would stir up trouble again.

Seeing the woman beside her silent, Luo Ting was about to say something when, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a faint pink mark on her lower back.

!!!

She sharply inhaled a breath of cold air and quickly grabbed Jiang Mian, who was about to move forward, "Wait a second."

Hmm??

Luo Ting looked around nervously, relieved to see everyone busy with their tasks.

"Sister Ting, what's wrong?"

Luo Ting lowered her voice, "What's up with your lower back?"

Jiang Mian's beautiful eyebrows knitted slightly, then relaxed as she smiled indifferently, "Oh, that. I didn't notice it. Just cover it up."

"Really? I wonder who said yesterday that her husband wasn't up to par."

Jiang Mian helplessly waved her hand, "Damned man holding grudges, always has to prove himself."

"…"

For a moment, Luo Ting wasn't sure whether this was complaining or showing off.

"Be extra careful today—L Brand really values the private lives of their artists. The incident a few days ago almost led to a contract termination. If it weren't for the official documents and the quick cooling of hype, you would've lost this endorsement a long time ago."

"How has L Brand not terminated the contract, letting her continue the shoot—are they giving her that much face?"

No sooner had Luo Ting spoken than a shrill, harsh voice came from behind a nearby curtain.

Hmm.

Interesting.

Jiang Mian stopped in her tracks, with no intention of moving.

Luo Ting glanced at the calm-faced woman, her beautiful eyelashes slightly lowered, the smile on her lips inscrutable.

A calm before the storm.

Her mind was already flashing through various public relations plans.

"Who knows, maybe the sponsor pacified her again, otherwise why would the trending search drop so fast? People who don't know might think they own Weibo."

"Just as expected of a pretty vase, no wonder she's thriving without much substance."

"Exactly, it's a pity we didn't get enough gossip last time. I would love to see more drama, especially if she got dumped by the sponsor—that would be interesting."

Jiang Mian chuckled gracefully, and suddenly the voices behind the curtain stopped.

Trouble!

Countdown to explosion.

Luo Ting was prepared to intercept her artist when suddenly, without even blinking, Jiang Mian headed into the photography studio, raising her voice a few notches, "Sister Ting, in this sultry weather, why not buy everyone some watermelon to munch on and quench their thirst?"

"Ah?"

What kind of script is this?

"All right! Guaranteed sweet!"

She immediately walked up to Jiang Mian's side, "Miss Jiang, what are you playing at this time?"

The stranger Jiang Mian acted, the more uneasy Luo Ting felt.

According to the usual pattern, it would be benevolent of her not to have gone up and started a physical altercation.

What is this today—

A change of heart?

Reinventing herself?!

Thinking this, Luo Ting showed a relieved smile, "You've grown up, become sensible."

Jiang Mian looked sympathetically at her agent beside her, "Sister Ting, look at you, spouting nonsense all nervously."

Still the familiar flavor.

Definitely misplaced trust.

"So you're really letting it go?"

"Letting it go."

Just as Luo Ting was about to unleash a stream of flattery, she heard Jiang Mian's next words, "And find an opportunity later to bundle them up and teach them a lesson in how to behave."
