Beef was blanched in water, and then it was time to start frying the sugar color. Sugar was generously used until it caramelized, and only then was the broad bean paste added. Following this, the beef was put in and stir-fried with scallions, ginger, garlic, star anise, light soy sauce, and dark soy sauce.
After more than ten minutes, water could be added and brought to a boil on high heat before transferring to a clay pot for slow simmering.
This could now be left alone, as the beef would take a while to cook. So it was time to start making canned goods.
They were still tasked with peeling, and Bai Zhi went up the mountain to continue carrying things down, twice over.
Bai Zhi glanced back, estimating that a couple more days of this would be sufficient, and just in time for school to start.
As Bai Zhi passed the pit, unsurprisingly, Bai Ye was still there, currently eating steamed dumplings. He popped one directly into his mouth, eating quickly as he was really too hungry.
