Chapter 11 Miracle

Tom had been a mercenary for seven to eight years and had plenty of combat experience. When suddenly attacked, he did not panic but raised his shield in front of him and shouted for his guards to form a shield wall with him, protecting everyone behind the shields and armor as much as possible.

As the night darkened, it became difficult for the archers in the woods to aim. Though arrows occasionally whizzed past their ears or clanged against the shields, it only added tension without causing any casualties.

The villagers chasing from behind were also taken down by a few Black Hound guards who were in charge of covering the rear.

Seeing the pursuers dwindling and the arrows from the woods thinning, many let out a sigh of relief, not realizing they had already retreated nearly two miles while fighting.

Walking as far as they had, they would reach another village soon where there should still be some troops from House Arias.
