Willpower alone wont be enough

Yeongsoo frowned as he stared at his phone. He had tried calling Haeun several times since dropping him off at the office, but every attempt was met with the same automated response: "The number you are trying to reach is not available."

It was unlike Haeun to go completely off the grid, especially after everything that had happened between them. Something felt off. He tightened his grip on the steering wheel as he pulled into the clinic parking lot. He had been trying to brush off the uneasy feeling gnawing at him, but the longer Haeun remained unreachable, the more it grew.

Stepping out of the car, Yeongsoo shoved his phone into his pocket and walked towards the clinic entrance. The place was familiar—the sterile smell of disinfectant, the soft beeping of medical equipment. He remembered the way Haeun had looked the last time they were here, tense but trying to act like everything was fine. Something had shifted that day, and whatever the doctor had told him was clearly still weighing on his mind.

Approaching the reception desk, he was greeted by a nurse who gave him a polite smile.

"Good morning, how can I help you?" she asked.

"I'm here to speak with Dr. Seo. Is he available?" Yeongsoo asked, his tone a little sharper than he intended.

The nurse tilted her head, typing something into her computer. "Dr. Seo is in with a patient at the moment, but if you'd like to wait, I can let him know you're here once he's finished."

"That's fine," Yeongsoo said, though waiting was the last thing he wanted to do. He found a seat in the waiting area, leaning back and trying to keep his frustration in check.

His mind kept circling back to Haeun. Why wasn't his phone working? Was it intentional, or had something else happened? The more he thought about it, the more he couldn't shake the feeling that Haeun had left out something important during their last conversation. His body language, the way he'd been distant—it all pointed to something deeper.

After what felt like an eternity, Dr. Seo finally appeared, stepping out from the back of the clinic. He was in his mid-40s, with a calm demeanor and sharp eyes that took in everything at a glance.

As Yeongsoo walked into Dr. Seo's office, the doctor didn't show any sign of recognition. He looked up from his desk, adjusting his glasses, and greeted him politely but with a professional distance.

"Good morning. How can I help you today?" Dr. Seo asked, his voice measured.

Yeongsoo remained standing, trying to keep his frustration from spilling over. "I'm here about Yoon Haeun. He was here a 2 days ago, and I need to know what you discussed."

Dr. Seo frowned slightly, folding his hands on the desk. "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I can't disclose any information regarding a patient unless you have a medical power of attorney or are a next of kin."

Yeongsoo's patience snapped as he stepped closer to Dr. Seo's desk, his eyes narrowing. "I'm not just 'someone close to him,'" he said, his voice low and filled with barely restrained anger. "I'm his alpha, isn't that enough for you Doc? I'm not in a good mood, I'd suggest you make it snappy."

Dr. Seo's eyes widened slightly at the sudden shift in tone, but he quickly recomposed himself, standing his ground. "Regardless of your relationship with him, Mr. Haeun's medical information is protected by confidentiality laws. Alpha or not, I can't release any details without his explicit consent."

"Doc you won't talk now that I'm patient enough to listen?"

Yeongsoo's words hung in the air, his eyes burning with intensity. Dr. Seo hesitated, feeling the pressure of Yeongsoo's threat. He had seen many alphas, but the sheer force of Yeongsoo's presence made him rethink his approach.

"Alright," Dr. Seo said cautiously, weighing his options. "Since you claim to be his alpha, I will tell you this much—but understand, I'm bending the rules here."

Yeongsoo smiled and sat down, waiting for the doctor to continue.

"Ah, you're part of the smart ones.."

Dr. Seo coughed lightly before speaking; "Since this was Haeun's first heat cycle, I explained to him that he may experience significant changes in his body. His body had naturally been repelling alpha pheromones until now, which is why he felt nauseous and lightheaded around other alphas. However, after finding an alpha whose pheromones are ideal for him, his body will start rejecting other pheromones even more aggressively."

Yeongsoo's expression didn't change, though he nodded, signaling for the doctor to continue.

"I also told him there's a high chance of pregnancy—a 98% chance, given his situation," Dr. Seo continued. "If he does become pregnant, his symptoms will worsen, and he'll need to absorb as much of his ideal alpha's pheromones as possible to manage his condition. Being exposed to other alphas' pheromones could weaken his immune system, making him more susceptible to fevers and colds."

Yeongsoo clenched his jaw, processing the implications. "So if he's around other alphas while being pregnant, it'll would make things twice as worse?"

"Yes," the doctor confirmed. "If he's exposed to pheromones other than yours, it will compromise his immune system. I also advised him that if he can't stay close to you, he should avoid other alphas entirely. It's important for his health and to reduce the risk of further complications."

Shit!

Yeongsoo cursed under his breath, no wonder Haeun refused to tell him anything. After telling him he didn't want them to be together despite being bonded why would he tell him he needed to be around his pheromones constantly.

"Mr Yoon is willpower is strong but without your pheromones, willpower alone won't be enough. If you're his alpha as you claimed, please take care of your omega. Is there anything else you want to know?"

Yeongsoo shook his head and stood up, glancing at Dr. Seo lightly he nodded and left the office.
