Chapter 111

Days passed, each one filled with mounting anticipation. Kiara tried to focus on her work, but the weight of what was hanging over them made it hard to concentrate. She knew that at any moment, Garrett could strike. He was watching, waiting, just as they were.

Mike, too, was on edge. She could see it in the way he paced, the way his jaw tightened when the phone rang. They had done everything they could to prepare, but the uncertainty was eating away at them both.

Then, one evening, just as the sun was setting, Mike received the call they had been waiting for.

"It's happening," Mike said, hanging up the phone, his expression a mix of triumph and tension. "Garrett's making his move. He's going to attempt a hostile takeover at the next board meeting."

Kiara's heart skipped a beat. "He's finally showing his hand."

Mike nodded, his eyes filled with steely determination. "He's walking right into our trap."
