Chapter 16

LUCAS

Once I'm done with work , I told my driver to me take to the restaurant that was booked for the date . I arrived there exactly 6pm , but I didn't see my partner . I was getting tired of sitting here alone for the past one hour . Not quite long , I saw a lady walking towards my table . Wait !! So this the girl I'm on dinner date with , the way she dressed turn me off , she looks fake to me, with heavy makeup . Who is she trying to please ."I scoffed . When she sat down opposite me , I was trying not to show the disgust I have for her . 

You came late , don't you have an etiquette? " I asked 

I'm sorry I came late ' was just trying to look good 'she said with a blushing face.

Let's get this straight , " I said with a serious expression . I only came to this date to honour my mother , you're not my type and you can never be . Once I'm done telling her my piece I stood up and I noticed she'll burst into tears anytime soon . I hurried out of the restaurant then I scoffed , I can't believe my mother would set me up with a cry baby . 

I met Chris when I got back home . I don't even know what he's still doing here . 

How was the date !!!!! ' he said with a mocking gaze .oops .. I'm sorry , I don't mean to tell her about it . It was not intentional. . sorry man . How about your lovely date , is she beautiful and I hope it works out too .

Mtcheew!! I hissed before going to my room angrily . 

I showered before going to my study , I need to deal with some contract . I made my study room comfortable for me . I made my cappuccino to my taste , I sat down viewing some documents . While going through them my phone buzzed indicating I have a message . 

" im really sorry about what happened back then between us , just know I've always love you and I'm coming back for you . Amor "

It's only been Charlotte calling me amor , did she have any reason for aborting my baby then , but that doesn't mean I'll forgive her . And I really don't know where she got my contact from I need to investigate well . This message really spoilt my mood and it made me angry . I've been trying not to dwell in my past but the past just keeps hunting me . I need someone to talk too but I don't have any . And the only thing that ease my mind is racing . 

I went back to my room , dressed up before going to my garage . I roared my black Bugatti veyron back to life before driving out of the house . I drove down to the underground racing street . I know it's illegal but I've always been the " King of Racing " . I went there to clear my head . After I'm done with the racing I drove to the beach to have a time alone for myself . I sat down at the shore to listen to the sound of the wave and it did the magic . I felt serene and relaxed .I got back home in the midnight , I showered again before going to bed .

The next day , the sound of my ring tone woke me up . I picked up without checking who's calling . I heard my mother's voice at the other end . 

Lucas is this how I trained you , you went to the date I arranged so you could abuse that refined miss right .....

Mum" don't start again , the " refined lady " came late I wasted my time just for nothing . Just give me this year I'll surely have someone to call my woman and I promised you that you'll get to see your grandchildren . So mother !! Don't disturb me with wife for this year again .if I didn't fulfill my promise you can start pestering me again . I love you mother . " I hung up without letting her reply to what I said . 

I'm not going to the company today , so I took my bath then brush my teeth before going to the kitchen to make my coffee . After informing the butler to make a simple dish for me , I went back to my study room to get busy with the documents . 

Knock! Knock!! Knock !!! 

I heard someone knocking , and I'm sure it's the butler . 

Sir your dish are ready , you can come downstairs to eat ."he said . I stood up from the chair and I felt numb all over so I had to stretch my body . I'm always carried away whenever I'm working . I went downstairs to eat . I've always love french cuisine too . While eating , Chris entered . What are you doing here ." I asked him . 

The last I checked we own this house together . Hmmm!!! Don't tell me you brought your date over so you don't want me to know about it ." He joked around . 

I don't even know what I was thinking when I choose him as my friend . But apart from this blabbing mouth of his he's been a good friend and I liked him for that . But I would never let him know that . 

About that call you told me , I investigate already it's bringing me to a dead end .so the only thing you have to do now is to remain calm for the main time you can't startle the snake now ." He told me with a serious expression. 

Okay . " I said to him . 

That's another thing about him . He has two face .I can say Chris is more ruthless than me but he's been using the smiling facade to cover up the ruthless side of him . He deals with his enemy without mercy .

We ate together talked about a lot of things . He informed me he's going to the club tonight that I should tag along . He was surprised when I said I'm going . I don't fancy stuffs like this but I really need to clear my head .
