Not long after leaving the tavern, Rod felt someone tailing him.

"Should've known better than to flaunt wealth," he thought to himself.

It didn't take much for him to figure out the situation. A guy who casually tipped a gold coin to a waitress in a tavern like he did? He might as well have painted "easy target" on his forehead.

To these rough-and-tumble adventurers who live by the blade, it was clear as day. One gold coin was enough to support a family of three for an entire month, living comfortably. Anyone who spent like that in public was likely some noble's brat, sneaking out to live out his heroic fantasies.

Flaunting wealth while being young and clueless? That's just asking to get robbed.

Rod deliberately slowed his pace and turned into a secluded alley.

The sound of hurried footsteps followed closely behind.

Two hulking adventurers, looking tense, trailed him into the alley.

As they rounded the corner, they saw the same easy mark from the tavern-standing there with a calm, amused smile.

"Boss, what do we do? I think he noticed us!" The tall, lanky adventurer started to panic, clearly unprepared for the situation.

"Of course he noticed, idiot. I'm not blind either! Let's just take him!" the other adventurer, sporting a vicious scowl, growled before rushing forward.

In a flash, a cold dagger was pressed against Rod's abdomen while the thug's other hand gripped his collar tightly.

"Kid, if you know what's good for you, hand over your cash!" the thug threatened in a low growl. "We just want your money, not your life!"

Rod shrugged nonchalantly. "If you want my stuff, go ahead. Take whatever you think is valuable."

"Smart choice!" The thug's fierce expression relaxed a little as he turned to his companion. "What are you waiting for? Get over here and grab his things!"

The lanky man hesitated before joining in, eyes scanning Rod's belongings. His gaze immediately fell on the gleaming golden axe strapped to Rod's back.

The sunlight reflected off the axe, making it shine like a treasure. Its craftsmanship was impeccable-almost like a piece of art.

"Looks valuable! Maybe it's gold, or at least worth a fortune. Take it!" he ordered.

The thug confidently reached for the axe handle.

"Ugh... aaargh!"

No matter how much he strained, his arms bulging with veins from the effort, the axe

wouldn't budge an inch.

"Boss, let me help!" The lanky one ran over to assist, grabbing onto the axe with both hands.

The two of them pulled with all their strength, their faces turning red from the exertion. Yet, the mighty axe didn't move a millimeter.

Rod, watching their fruitless struggle, sighed. "You guys look like you're struggling.

Here, let me help." With a casual motion, Rod effortlessly lifted the axe with one hand and extended it towards them.

"Th-thanks!" The thug with the fierce face grinned and grabbed the axe.

Boom!

The moment he took hold of it, an overwhelming force crushed him to the ground.

"Ahh...M..my hands... they're broken!" The thug whimpered in pain, his arms pinned beneath the weight of the axe.

streaming down his race, was still trapped under the immense weight of the axe.

"One minute you want it, the next you don't. You're playing games with me, huh?" Rod teased, lifting the axe with ease. "Well, you asked for it and I gave it to you. Now it's my turn to ask for something from you, don't you think?"
