LIAM
Being back with rain has helped me get off my mind on the things that have been keeping me awake at night for months on end.
Until I jerk awake, covered in sweat and gasping for air. The faces … the blood and the cries for mercy still drag me, wanting to keep me down. I can't remember where I am, but I hear someone calling my name.
Someone is touching my face, calling out to me.
"Breathe in, take a breath baby now."
I follow the order, as I grip my hair, pulling it. My lungs don't burn anymore but I am still in the nightmare, the faces and the blood all mixed.
"You're home now baby, you are here." someone is rubbing my back, talking me down. I love that person. I had always craved that person when I was away.
"Rain?" my voice is hoarse as I turn my head and see him. He is shrouded in the dark, but it's him.
"Yes baby, it's me," he whispers and pulls me into his arms. "You are okay. It was just a dream."
