Luc POV
The arctic chill of silence from Irina's room made him rub his hands together. She refused to speak to him after learning about his role in Sophia's death. Despite himself, her frosty attitude gave him a pang.
D*mn the woman!
Yes, Sophia's death was regrettable. The loss of even one member of the vampire family pained everyone else. But did Irina not put two and two together?
Dimitri already resisted their parents' plan to marry him to Irina. Sophia, in her way, jeopardized that plan, just like Georgiana. But he'd still take both of them over that piece of human meat, Princess Ariana. At least the deaths of Sophia and Georgiana kept Dimitri in line ... until now.
And how dare Irina lay Dimitri's rebellion, disrespect, and defection at Luc's feet! She should be worshipping the ground he walked on. They had to stay united, especially with ghostly imposters on the loose.
