Chapter 113: Alone Together on the Throne

Ariana POV

Luc had escaped! Somehow, this turn of events didn't shock her, and yet it did at the same time. From her observations of Luc, she had predicted that he would fight Dimitri to the death rather than flee like a thief in the night. However, he also had a strong survival instinct.

What would happen with him out there on the loose? Would he try to stage a counter-rebellion or carry out an assassination attempt?

She nestled close to Dimitri on one of the big golden thrones. "I can't believe it's just us. Finally. That all this is over."

Kissing the top of her head, he said, "Running and hiding is over. Your family's torment is over. But our work is just beginning."

Blushing, she said, "I realize that, but can we take a few moments to just enjoy our victory?"

"I'd like nothing more, sweetheart." His eyes gleamed wickedly, and his voice took on a sensual overtone. "But the court is due any moment."
