Gathered in his study with Bill, Elina, the newly promoted Captain of the Royal Guard Valerie, and Ariana's Uncle, Duke Edmund, Dimitri went over the operation. "Right. At 6:55, where will we be?"

"Waiting at the rendezvous point," Bill responded. "Most of us in the second car. Ariana will be with you in the first car."

Edmund frowned. "Won't that set off the Lammas bloodsuckers?"

Dimitri shook his head. "They know that Ariana will be with me, and they're in no position to make demands. They seemed desperate to make a deal."

"I still think they were hiding something," Elina said, eyes slitted. "I heard what they didn't say. They're going to turn this situation to their advantage."

"Let them," Valerie declared. "They can't."

"You think they wouldn't ambush us?" Bill queried, sipping a cup of strong coffee.
