Chapter 134: Caring for Irina

Dimitri POV

Pale and bloodless. That was how Irina looked, lying on the white sheets in the Hospital Wing. She'd lapsed into unconsciousness. Holding her clammy hand, he commanded, "Irina, stay with us. Listen to my voice. Follow my voice. Don't leave us."

Ariana pulled up a chair, sitting beside Irina, laying a cool cloth over her forehead. "She's going to be alright, isn't she?"

Dr. Redfearn shook his head. "Vampires can recover from drinking the blood of a corpse, but it's going to be ... quite unpleasant."

Staring at Irina's dry lips and skin, Dimitri asked for a sponge to moisten her face. An ugly red streak stretching over the right side of her face was the only color. Her eye opened, and he could see it was bloodshot.

Ariana turned to him. "How in the world did dead human blood get into our dinner? Was it only in Irina's dinner? I think I would have noticed if we consumed it."
