Chapter 4: An Unusual Flying Thunder God

Naruto picked up the admission notice on the table and flipped through it. There was less than a month before school started.

The thought of going to school triggered memories of his past life, when he'd sling a backpack over his shoulders and head off to class.

Sadly, in this life, he had no parents to send him off to school.

But it didn't matter too much.

At least he still had a giant fox!

"Finally, I'm going to become a ninja!"

"I'm really looking forward to it!"

For the past six years, Naruto had maintained a reasonable exercise routine.

He'd run for half an hour or practice horse stance every day.

In short, he used every training method he could recall from his previous life.

But he was careful not to overdo it. After all, he was only six years old, and overexerting oneself too early was rumored to stunt growth.

The only disappointment was that, in all these years, he still hadn't had the chance to come into contact with chakra.

He avoided asking the Third Hokage too many questions for fear of arousing suspicion.

As for the fox sealed inside him…

It probably knew all about chakra extraction.

But the problem was, he didn't know how to ask.

Would the fox even teach him? It might think Naruto was trying to gain control over it, and that could set it off.

The fox always gave him the same vibe as that cat he had in his past life—haughty and proud, except the fox wasn't as fat.

So, attending the Ninja Academy was Naruto's best shot at learning how to handle chakra.

After finishing the dishes, Naruto walked over to the wardrobe and picked out a black outfit to change into.

He still stuck to his fashion sense from his previous life.

His wardrobe was almost entirely black or white—keeping it simple was the way to go.

Looking at himself in the mirror, he noted how different he looked from the Naruto in the original story.

He had kept his hair short, like the Seventh Hokage.

He was also taller than the Naruto at this age in the original story.

Naruto figured it was all thanks to the proper nutrition.

In the original story, Sasuke was taller than Naruto at this age, and the difference likely came from Naruto's malnutrition.

It was hard not to criticize the Third Hokage.

If it weren't for his system, which provided him with a steady diet of meat, milk, and eggs every day, he might have been even worse off than his counterpart from the original story.

With his mask in hand, Naruto checked the time—8:30 PM.

Nodding to himself, he put on the mask and began his nightly workout.

The streets of Konoha were quiet at night, with no one in sight. Only the street lamps and the moths hovering around them kept Naruto company.

Konoha wasn't like the modern world, with its dazzling lights and vibrant nightlife.

By 8 PM, most people had already gone to bed.

The only form of nighttime entertainment was, well... making babies.

Whenever Naruto went out at this time, there was never a soul to be found.

As for the rumor spread by the Third Hokage, about Naruto being the reincarnation of the Nine-Tails...

Naruto's habit of staying out of sight had led many to question the validity of that story.

In fact, people began to think it was just a scary tale told to keep children in line.

Nowadays, even if Naruto stood in front of the villagers, they probably wouldn't recognize him.

In this way, Naruto quietly dissolved the Third Hokage's rumor without even trying.

After about half an hour of running, Naruto returned home, took a shower, and crawled into bed.

His consciousness drifted into the sealed space.

There, Kurama lay on his front paws, seemingly asleep.

Naruto walked to the open area in front of his small house, measuring the space. He then pulled out a space portal.

Kurama cracked open one eye, pretending to stay asleep.

He was curious to see what this little brat was up to now.

The moment Naruto pulled out the portal, a large purple cocoon formed on the ground, glowing with an ethereal light.

Naruto stared at the portal, swallowing nervously.

This was his first time using it, so naturally, he felt a bit apprehensive.

But then he reminded himself that this was the sealed space—if something went wrong, he'd just get kicked out.

So, he closed his eyes, steeled his nerves, and jumped into the purple cocoon.

In the next instant, a purple light opened up in a wheat field, and Naruto emerged from it.

"Yes! It worked!"

Naruto jumped up, pumping his fist in the air, overjoyed.

When he had entered the portal, he had thought of this wheat field, and sure enough, here he was.

'So, does that mean as long as I picture the destination in my mind, I can travel there with the portal?'

'Isn't this basically a time-space jutsu?'

Emboldened by his success, Naruto began testing the limits of the portal.

Meanwhile, Kurama's eyes had widened in shock.

'What is this sorcery?'

Naruto's figure flickered around the sealed space—sometimes appearing by the river, other times in the orchard.

Each time the purple light flashed, the blonde-haired boy would appear in a different spot.

Naruto got more daring as he experimented and even started teleporting into the sky.

As soon as he reappeared in mid-air, he would toss another portal, and the cycle continued.

Naruto had practically turned his portal into an aerial teleportation device.

Kurama's mind was blown.

Sure, Minato was a genius with time-space jutsu, but this kid's purple cocoon was clearly just some sort of tool!

And there wasn't even a trace of chakra involved...

'How is he doing this!?'

Kurama couldn't wrap his head around it. He was utterly baffled.

After about a hundred uses, Naruto finally started to feel a bit winded.

"So it does take some effort after all..."

When he tried to open another portal, the system interface showed that the ability was on cooldown, and his head felt like it was being pricked with needles.

Looking at the now-empty blue bar under his experience points, Naruto guessed it would take until tomorrow for the ability to be usable again.

Feeling a bit worn out, Naruto pulled out a slab of dragon meat and placed it on a grill.

The steak, about the size of a basin, came from a magical creature in one of the system's modules. Its meat had the properties of replenishing mana and mental energy.

Naruto skewered the steak with an iron rod, lit the charcoal, and sprinkled it with cumin, chili powder, and barbecue sauce.

Soon, the entire sealed space was filled with the mouthwatering aroma of grilled meat.

Kurama took a deep sniff, his stomach growling loudly.

He remembered the taste of the raw meat Naruto had fed him before...

Drool was practically dripping from Kurama's mouth as he watched Naruto flip the meat. His mouth hung open as if he were ready to devour the meal.

Finally, Kurama couldn't hold it in anymore.

"Hey, kid... about that..."

Asking directly for meat felt a bit embarrassing, so Kurama quickly shifted the topic.

"That space-time jutsu you were using... what's the deal with that?"
