Chapter 23: Killed by Me

"Yes, we meet again."

"I didn't expect that in the end, I'd die at your hands."

Leaning against the wall, Suguru Geto slowly slid down to sit, watching Mirai, who stood half a meter away.

"I never thought you had mastered long-distance teleportation techniques..."

"Using Miguel to stall Gojo, but still hiding something like this up your sleeve."

A wry smile crept across Geto's lips. "A true miscalculation..."

Even now, Geto didn't doubt the message Miguel had sent. He assumed Mirai's appearance was the result of yet another technique he hadn't shown before.

"You were so fixated on Okkotsu's curse spirit. Why didn't you come looking for me all these years?" Mirai asked, glancing at the dark screen of his phone, his voice soft.

"Heh..."

Geto chuckled, but fresh blood dribbled from the corner of his mouth. "Even though we're both special grades, not all of us can match Gojo in strength."

"The Zen'in clan is one of the Three Great Families. Should I have delivered the prize right to your door without proper preparation?"

"I see..."

Mirai furrowed his brow. "So you feared the Zen'in family. Why didn't you contact me for an outside meeting? Didn't you think you could kill me one-on-one and take the curse spirit?"

Geto's expression stiffened. "Contact you... Would you have come to meet me alone?"

"Yes."

"Ha... I really missed a golden opportunity, didn't I?"

Geto's bitter smile deepened, his emotions a swirl of regret.

He didn't doubt Mirai's honesty—after all, he was at death's door.

Wiping the blood from his mouth with his remaining hand, Geto squinted. "Back when we first met, I had a strange feeling..."

"The look in your eyes reminded me of myself when I first devoured a special-grade curse."

"That hidden greed deep within your gaze... I know it all too well."

Mirai folded his arms across his chest and nodded slightly.

"Looks like I'm not much of an actor after all."

"Even Gojo always complains to others at Jujutsu High, saying my smiles look fake."

Mirai's gaze drifted toward the now-settling dust in the sky over the school, and the dark phone screen lit up with a white glow.

"Maki and Inumaki seem to be headed this way."

"Any last wishes? Keep it simple."

Mirai stepped closer, his voice calm. "After all, this body of yours will be quite useful to me."

"So that's how it is..."

"You're a lot more reasonable than I thought."

Geto turned his head, looking at Mirai's indifferent expression, and chuckled lightly.

"If possible, don't go after my family."

"I agree."

Mirai gently held the long sword in his hand and gave a quiet nod.

Geto's family—people like Nanako and Mimiko—were of no threat to him.

Insignificant ants, not worth his concern.

The sharp tip of the blade pierced Geto's heart with ease, and crimson blood spilled from his chest.

As Geto's face relaxed into a peaceful smile, a flicker of complexity crossed Mirai's expression.

A man who viewed ordinary humans as monkeys, who could even kill his own parents without hesitation, yet treated sorcerers with warmth and kindness...

He killed in the name of righteousness. A puzzling man, to say the least.

...

"Mirai-nii!"

Maki and Inumaki arrived just in time to see Suguru Geto's body disappear, swallowed by the space at Mirai's command.

Mirai turned to them with a faint smile. "It's over. I killed Geto."

Maki let out a sigh of relief. "Good. That bastard nearly killed us."

"Okkotsu's still unconscious. Inumaki and I were planning to finish him off while he was injured."

None of them knew about Geto's relationship with Gojo.

To them, Geto was just a dangerous sorcerer, someone who had attacked the school with ill intentions.

Mirai, knowing the full truth, naturally didn't explain further.

Looking at Maki, Mirai smiled. "Seems like you've made some good friends since leaving the Zen'in family, huh?"

Noticing his gentle expression, a faint blush spread across Maki's face. "I was just worried..."

"If someone that dangerous escapes, who knows what kind of harm he'll cause next time."

Inumaki glanced at Maki's flustered face, then nodded in agreement. "Salmon."

"Let's go check on Okkotsu."

Mirai chuckled, deciding not to tease her any further, and followed them back inside the school.

The barrier surrounding Jujutsu High had already shattered, and the sky outside had just begun to darken with the onset of night.

As the glow of the sunset faded, Mirai's smile seemed to carry a hint of something... eerie.

It seemed Geto hadn't been entirely wrong—at least the students couldn't tell that his smile was fake.

It would be good practice to interact with them more.

...

At the edge of a deep crater, Okkotsu suddenly opened his eyes.

Maki, Inumaki, Panda.

Seeing the familiar faces crowding around him, Okkotsu let out a long breath.

"Thank goodness, you're all safe."

Panda grinned, showing his teeth. "No need to worry. Mirai-sensei from Class 2 healed us."

"Mirai... sensei?"

Noticing that his wounds had disappeared, Okkotsu got up and finally spotted Mirai standing not far away.

"Thank you, Sensei."

Mirai waved his hand dismissively. "It was nothing. Take care of Rika first."

Right, Rika!

Okkotsu quickly turned around. The massive vengeful spirit hovered in the air, waiting silently.

"Yuta... Yuta..."

Rika's voice was filled with joy as she saw him awake.

"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting, Ri—"

Okkotsu's voice trailed off, his eyes widening in shock.

Before him, Rika's enormous form dissolved into countless golden specks of light.

As the cursed spirit's body dissipated, the form of a familiar yet strange girl emerged.

"Ri...ka..."

Okkotsu's body trembled, his voice breaking with emotion.

Tears welled up uncontrollably and streamed down his face. In that moment, Okkotsu wept.

Mirai slowly approached, his voice calm as he revealed the truth about Okkotsu's lineage.

Panda's voice boomed with disbelief. "A descendant of Sugawara no Michizane? A distant relative of Gojo-sensei?"

"Is this for real?"

The two sorcerers and Panda stood frozen, eyes wide with shock.

...

In her human form, Rika gently embraced the crying Okkotsu, soothing him with soft words.
