Chapter 58: The Exchange Event Begins

For Zen'in Mirai, Nanami Kento had only met him twice, but those encounters left a lasting impression.

Mysterious, powerful, cold-blooded... and dangerous.

The first meeting was during Suguru Geto's declaration of war at Jujutsu High.

Mirai spoke of collaborating with Geto, only to immediately kill a first-grade sorcerer standing on Geto's side.

He had then casually ordered a first-grade sorcerer from his clan to sever his own arm.

The terrifying part? The sorcerer obeyed without hesitation.

The second encounter was during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

Even now, the sight of the colossal shikigami blotting out the sky haunted Nanami's mind.

---

"I don't doubt that you have the strength to kill him."

Nanami stared seriously at Gojo Satoru. "But if you plan to eliminate him without thinking about the consequences, then I have nothing to say."

"Otherwise, even if you uproot the entire Zen'in clan…"

"The jujutsu world will fall into chaos."

Nanami pushed his glasses up, his voice steady but heavy. "The traditional sorcerer circles would descend into utter disorder."

"Everyone would live in fear, expecting the same fate."

"Ninety percent of the jujutsu community would treat you as no different from a curse—someone who kills on a whim, driven solely by personal impulses."

"And yes... even I would think of you that way."

Gojo clicked his tongue, fiddling with the bandages around his eyes, his dangerous blue gaze flickering through.

"But what if that guy is working with the curses?"

Nanami remained unfazed. "You'll need proof. Solid, undeniable proof."

"Mirai Zen'in isn't just any sorcerer—he's the head of one of the Big Three Families."

"And if you rely on trivial evidence, like White being a curse, no one will believe you."

Nanami added pointedly, "You've shielded more than one questionable existence before. Yuji Itadori isn't the only one."

Gojo sighed lightly. "So troublesome..."

After a brief silence, Gojo shifted topics. "That kid, Junpei Yoshino..."

"Have you told Yuji what really happened? That his mother's death was caused by Sukuna's finger?"

Nanami resumed flipping through his newspaper. "No. There's no need for him to carry that burden."

Gojo's relaxed demeanor returned. "See? Sending you to mentor Yuji was a brilliant move on my part."

"By the way, where's the finger now?"

Nanami's voice turned cold. "I handed it over to the higher-ups. If I gave it to you, you'd just feed it to him."

Mentioning Yuji, Nanami's expression briefly softened. "Are you sure it's a good idea to let him participate in the Exchange Event?"

"Revealing him now, with Principal Gakuganji involved... He'll be on the higher-ups' radar again."

Gojo gave a sly grin. "No need to worry. That old geezer has other things on his mind right now."

---

At the designated starting point for the Exchange Event, the Tokyo students—Maki, Megumi, Nobara, Toge, and Panda—gathered early.

Maki checked the time on her phone and scowled. "That idiot White... don't tell me he's still in bed!"

It wasn't surprising—White had never once shown up on time for training.

"Should I go wake him up?" Panda offered.

Before anyone could respond, a familiar mocking voice cut through the air.

"What's this? The Tokyo team here to welcome us?"

The Kyoto students—Mai Zen'in, Aoi Todo, and their group—had arrived.

Todo's expression soured. "No Okkotsu? What a shame..."

Standing just over a meter tall, with two golden pigtails poking upwards, Momo Nishimiya clutched her broom and gave the first-years a curious look.

"If Okkotsu isn't coming, sending these first-years instead feels like you're going easy on us."

The mechanical sorcerer, Mechamaru, chimed in. "Underestimating us, huh?"

Kamo Noritoshi, with sleek black hair framing his face, corrected calmly. "Age doesn't determine a sorcerer's strength. Especially for someone like Megumi Fushiguro, who inherited the Zen'in clan's techniques."

Meanwhile, Kasumi Miwa—her long blue hair draping over her back—scanned the area eagerly for Gojo.

Their teacher, Utahime Iori, crossed her arms and frowned. "Where's that blindfolded idiot?"

---

"Yaaawn..."

Trailing lazily behind Mirai, White rubbed his drowsy eyes as he arrived just in time.

"See? I made it. Not late at all."

Maki glared. "You idiot! Get over here! We're starting soon!"

White's pale complexion and faint cursed aura drew wary glances from the Kyoto students.

Years of battling curses made it difficult for them to accept the idea of a curse as an ally.

Just as White settled in, a familiar loud voice rang out.

"Yo!"

Following behind Gojo, Yuji Itadori waved enthusiastically. "Nobara, Megumi, White!"

White froze mid-step. "Pink-haired monkey? Weren't you dead?"

Yuji scratched the back of his head, apologetic. "Sorry, White. We had to keep it a secret."

While the others exchanged greetings, Mirai's sharp eyes observed the scene.

He wasn't surprised Yuji was alive, nor did Nobara and Megumi's lack of surprise trouble him. Small changes were normal.

But something was off.

Mirai's gaze shifted to Principal Yaga on the steps. Standing beside him was Gakuganji, the conservative principal of Kyoto.

The elderly man leaned on a wooden cane, his drooping white eyebrows and beard making him look on the verge of death.

Yet when Gakuganji saw Yuji alive...

He showed no reaction.

"A butterfly effect?" Mirai wondered. "Or something else I've missed?"

His expression remained calm, but his mind worked rapidly.

---

Maki turned to Gojo. "Since Yuji's alive, White doesn't need to participate, right?"

They had included White only because they thought Yuji was dead. Now that he wasn't, they had an extra participant.

Gojo smiled. "What do you say, White?"

White, mid-embrace with Yuji, turned and scowled. "I trained for this! Canceling now? That's a slap in the face!"

Gojo chuckled, glancing at Mirai. "And you? Any thoughts, fake-smile?"

Mirai's voice was gentle, his expression unreadable. "Whatever you decide, Gojo-sensei."

Though he didn't insist on White participating, Mirai remained curious. "Let's see what Gojo's planning."

Gojo grinned. "Then White's in."

He turned to the Kyoto students. "Any objections?"

Kamo Noritoshi shook his head. "If your school wants to send more first-years, that's fair enough."

The Kyoto students didn't care—White was, after all, just a low-grade curse.

With no objections from either side, Yaga raised his voice. "The two-day Tokyo-Kyoto Exchange Event..."

"Day One: Group Battle—Curse Extermination!"

"Begin!"
