Chapter 19. My Prey is the Princess

"My prey is the princess. I know you are here because you wish to collaborate."

Camille gazed upon the woman’s face, recognising it instantly—it was a familiar visage, one she had encountered at the auction. Leni’s arrival was no doubt an attempt to persuade her into cooperation, a fact that Camille could easily surmise.

Leni inquired, "Did Yafaka come earlier?" She sighed, her efforts had been in vain, and the outcome had been far from favourable.

The old woman smiled and gestured for Leni to come closer. In a whisper, Camille confided to Leni that she had been the one to decline Yafaka’s offer.

"So, you have turned down your nephew? And why is that?" Leni asked once more.

"I was never loved by her birth mother from the moment she was born, and the king did not wish for me to become his concubine."

Leni’s mind was no longer in turmoil; she had devised several ways to support Camille.

"Why are you so cruel to Yafaka?"
