I'll be back

LYRAEA.

I could feel myself panting so fast. Many unrelated thoughts ran through my mind. I don't know what else to think; all I ever cared about was him. I felt something was wrong, but I can't point out where.

Kealos looked lost at the King of Austria when he said that. "My lord, but I believe you are mistaken." He countered back.

Immediately, there were hushed tones that followed loudly in the crowd. I turned to look at Martha, who was standing by the door. I could see the look of admiration she had in her eyes as she stared at Kaelos.

"I knew the man was something special, but I never knew he came from a prestigious kingdom," Martha said gently.

"Please don't be misunderstood, but my name is Kaelos, and I don't know what you are talking about."

The King, whose name is Adavis Luciano, stared at Kaelos briefly, then asked, "How did you arrive here?"

Kaelos thought for a moment before he ended up clutching his head in pain. He groaned so loudly that I rushed towards him as I was about to wrap my hand around him, only to be stopped by King Adavis.

"Don't you dare touch my son; I don't know which type of spell you might have cast on my son to the extent that he was ready to foolishly take the lashes that were meant for you."

"But__"

"Not a word from your cursed lips; I don't want to ever set my eyes on you near my son again." He yelled, interrupting my speech.

He easily carries Kaelos as he is rushed to the hospital in the pack, where many pack healers attend to him.

I went back to the old pack house, and suddenly the room became crampy and scary. I felt alone for the first time because Kaelos was not here with me. I can't help but recall the day I was staring aimlessly at the moon in the night. The moon was beautifully peeking through the window. He came to stand beside me, as he said.

"I know it's beautiful and radiant, but not as beautiful as you." My cheeks burned from the single sentence, then he carried a wooden comb as he stood behind me and slowly started combing my hair and would softly massage my scalp. I suppressed the urge to moan.

I brought myself back to reality, my heart beating so fast that many uncalled thoughts ran through my mind as I thought about everything and how we started. I found tears slowly pricking the corners of my eyes; it hurts.

My sister Mae arrived as she stood close to me. "I know it hurts, but don't dwell too much about it. When we once found him in the forest, I knew he was too handsome to be true, but at least now you know the reason why; he's way above your league."

I took a deep breath. I know she's right, but I can't help but feel like I have fallen for him like he's someone Rhain never was; he is calm, gentle, loving, and caring; and lastly, he always tries to protect me the little way he can. What else can I ask of an Alpha male?

I took a deep breath as I decided to go to bed. I closed my eyes, but I could barely sleep. No matter how I tried, I felt things would never go the right way, no matter how I tried to see that things worked.

I took a deep breath, hoping to calm my nerves. Finally, I slept. After some time, a knock alerted me. I was startled. I managed to walk through the door to see who it was. I was shocked when I noticed that it was a young woman standing. She had worn a golden linen dress, and her floral golden hair cascaded to her shoulders.

"Who are you?" I asked.

She smiled and said, "I am Laurette; I just want to have a few words with you."

She turned to look at me. She had a beautiful smile on her face, and her ethereal green eyes were entrancing. I can't help but admire her out-of-this-world beauty.

"Okay, let me inform my sister first."

"Oh dear, no need; I just want to have a word with you."

I let out a sigh and said, "Alright."

"Walk with me."

I started following her, and then she turned to me and said, "Since you are deemed cursed, you are far from that; you are the pack's assets, so be watchful; there would be enemies lurking at your door, acting like your friends or relatives, but don't ever be discouraged; rather, be determined."

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked.

"Because you have a special purpose, Lyraea, be focused, and you will achieve it."

I felt something special about her, so I decided to ask, "What about Kaelos? I can feel like I'm falling for him." I said shyly, There is something about Laurette, like I can express my deepest desires despite not knowing her; her gaze alone was expressing more.

She smiled and said, "He is your mate, your second chance mate, but before things work out for you, be ready for what is about to come."

I looked scared. "What is about to come?"

"I have to leave, little one; remember that you are more special than you think."

"Lyraea... Lyraea." My sister Mae called my name. I begrudgingly opened my eyes, and there I saw Mae sitting beside me, looking very worried.

"Damn, you almost scared me."

"How?"

"I have been trying to wake you up, but you were lifeless and your face was pale, I thought."

"Stop overthinking; I'm fine," I said jokingly, and she smiled.

We talked heartily for a little while before we went to sleep.

The next day arrives, and the morning rays peek through the window. I slowly opened my eyes while stretching my body, only to feel the impact of cold water being splashed on my body.

I looked up, only to notice that Martha was standing beside me with a bucket in hand.

"Why did you have to do that?"

"It's already eight, and you bunch of losers are still yet to wake up to start your morning chores."

"But," before I could complete my sentence, I felt a tight slap on my cheeks. My cheeks burned, causing me to fight the urge not to cry.

"There was no need for that; what's the reason for this nuisance?" Mae scolded. I was still shocked to utter a word. I am shocked at the fact that I was once the reputed daughter of a Beta and ended up being the Luna of an Alpha. Now I am lowered even less than an omega, to the extent that omegas no longer have regard for me. I felt insulted in unimaginable ways. I fought the urge not to let out a tear, but, hell, it hurt.

"Get your dirty asses to work, or I might land you another slap." He yelled.

With burning tears in my eyes, I begrudgingly stood up from the bed and decided to go to the kitchen. Mae followed me.

"Why have you been silent, even though Martha is treating you very badly?"

"What can I do, Mae? I don't want to be thrown out of this pack because when I'm thrown out, How will I survive? I can endure being humiliated; until I'm stabilized, then I'll be leaving."

"Don't you_"

"Lyraea!" Kaelos called out softly, interrupting Mae. I noticed he was well secured with many guards; he rushed up to me, hugged me, and said, "I'll be going back to Aeustria, and I promise I'll be back for you."
