Lyraea.
I curled myself into the blankets. I'm trying to act strong, not emotional, but hell, it hurts knowing fully well I might not see him again. I have become so accustomed to him to the extent that not having him around hurts as hell.
Suddenly, I felt the strong urge to go back to him and make things right. I wish things were better. I let out a deep breath, sniffling. Mae came close to me; I could see the sad expression on her face.
"I also miss him."
I chuckled a bit, reminiscing about the times that we shared; it felt almost unreal that he had truly left for the palace.
"You are right, he was too good to be true." I smiled while looking emptily at the ceiling.
She smiled, "Don't worry, I'll always be here with you throughout everything." She assured me. Without a word, I just hugged her, feeling elated, "I love you, and I wouldn't have gone this far without you."
She just smiled as we eventually slept off. The next day arrives, and the morning rays peek through the window. I was trying to stretch my body when I felt cold and stinking water being poured on me.
"Wh..." I was cut short when I felt a tight slap on my cheeks.
"You guys stayed up late only to wake up late as well; it's already 8 am, so it's time to get your dirty ass off the floor and start working in the kitchen."
I balled my hands into tight fists; now I have had enough of this. The urge to put her in her position was far more intense, but recalling that I might be kicked out of this pack kept me in place.
"Sis, won't you fight for your right rather than let this Omega treat you like a piece of trash?"
I just wiped the dirty water on my body and said, "Don't worry, I'm fine." I saw a smirk laced on Martha's face as she folded her hands.
"You can't be serious right now," my sister scoffed, but I just kept silent and let her do her thing.
"Now go to the kitchen and start cooking for the alphas."
I looked up at Martha and said, "But today is not our shift to cook for the alphas; today is meant for__."
She landed another slap on my cheeks. "Don't let me repeat myself; now get out." She yelled. I was so furious; my wolf was threatening to escape to put her in place, but I had to tell myself not to act irrationally.
So I quietly stood up from my bed as I walked to the kitchen. On reaching there, most of the omegas started laughing at me; some even threw stuff from the garbage can.
"Oh, now where's your protector, the handsome demigod?" Another said.
I quietly went to carry out my duties and tried to ignore all the insults rendered to me, but I couldn't help it. I am trying to calm my wolf and not to act out of impulse, but the remarks and the taunts coming from the omegas are making things more unbearable.
When I was eventually done with the chores, we were about to leave the kitchen with my sister, but the voice of Martha stopped us from leaving.
"And where do you guys think you are going?"
"To the old Packhouse, of course. We are done with the chores, so I don't see the need to stay behind since we won't be offered food from the kitchen; we want to go cook ours," I said. She scoffed at my audacity.
"Now I'm understanding you are beginning to get some nerve to talk to me like that."
"Please Martha, I have been quiet for long, not because I can't put you in your place but because I am thinking ahead, unlike you, who doesn't think about the future."
"How dare..." She was about to land her hand again on my cheeks; I caught it before her hand landed on my cheeks. I held her hand tightly; she tried moving it, but it was difficult.
A smirk was laced on my face. "Now so you feel the strength of the daughter of a Beta?"
I eventually let go of their hand; she scoffed and adjusted her hair as she darted her eyes in different directions, only to see many people staring at her.
"What are you guys looking at? Get to work." I could feel the embarrassment etched in her voice; it brought a satisfactory smile to my face.
She adjusted her voice and said, "Before you leave, serve the food to Alpha Rhain." This time she lowered her voice as she commanded me.
"Take this; you can start going while I carry out this duty," I told Mae while handing her the ingredients that Mom had brought for us; she nodded as she left. I took the tray of food as I went to Alpha Rhain's room. I knocked, but there was no reply. I knocked again, only to be welcomed by the sounds of moans and groans. My fist was tightly clenched around the tray. Why does it still affect me?
I closed my eyes as I took a deep breath while consoling myself that everything would be alright, but I was not certain.
Suddenly I was welcomed by the sound of a loud gasp when I saw my eldest sibling, Margaret; she was there with Mynth; they were both being fucked by Alpha Rhain; they were shocked when they saw me.
I was also surprised, but I tried to compose myself and act unperturbed, so I just quietly went to serve them the food. Then I turned to leave, only to feel a firm grip around my wrist. I turned to see who it was; it was no one else other than Rhain, and immediately I felt disgusted by his touch.
"Leave, both of you," he loudly yelled to my sisters. They scrambled their feet out of the room; they looked terrified as he had said that.
I was now left alone with him. He suddenly brought me closer to him, took a whiff of my scent, and whispered, "I know deep inside, you still miss me."
I tried pushing him, but he was far stronger than me. "You disgust me; remember, I'm a cursed Luna, and I don't deserve to be touched by anyone."
He laughed like he had lost it, then roughly tried to kiss, and I averted my face in another direction; he ended up kissing my cheeks. I was so disgusted by his presence.
Suddenly a knock alerted us; he begrudgingly let go of me. As he went to open the door, I noticed a young man who seemed around my age, but damn, he looked very handsome; his handsome face was out of this world; he was wearing casual savants clothes.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?"
"I am Austin; I'm sent here to call Lyraea because her presence is needed outside."
Rhain looked pissed, but he allowed me to follow him, which I did. When we had reached a certain distance, he stopped and stared at me.
"I am Rygral, the brother of Kealos, so don't be scared; he sent me to make sure that you are fine and free from harm so I can also protect you while he's away." He said.
