Chapter 23 - NEWTs

(. . . ) Dear Petunia, I got this magic camera as a gift. I'm lending it to you. I'm sure you'll like recording your last months in the castle. It would be great to have a photo wall at our wedding. The instructions are with the camera, and I sent an album too (. . .).

Photos Petunia started carrying the camera in her purse. She took photos of herself with Lily and Severus, with Eloise, Gwen, and Pandora. She took photos of the portraits of the castle and even the Whomping Willow. She took photos of them in the library and her dorm. She wanted to have the memories when she missed the castle.

Interestingly, Petunia wasn't as nervous about the NEWTs anymore. She knew all the spells, with and without enchantment, and read and reread her books and notes in the weeks before the tests.

Many seventh-year students were becoming neurotic, and Eloise was irritating the three of them to the point that Pandora, the most patient and calm, was getting angry. For the sake of self-preservation, Petunia avoided being near Eloise, and she understood and started to complain less.

Petunia couldn't ignore that Eloise suffered with her family. She was ignored most of the time and envied that her brother had had fatherly love. The worst part was her niece, who had been born on her birthday. She felt that she didn't even have that.

Petunia liked Eloise and considered her a great friend, but she wouldn't be lying if she said that she wasn't a priority in her life. She had more important things than her.

- "What do you think about leaving the country?" - Eloise asked. She was serious when she asked the question.

- "Honestly, don't talk that outside of here. This country is getting more and more dangerous. This dark lord is a madman who is killing the wizarding population. Depending on how long this war lasts, we might barely have any students here in the next few years. So leaving the country is a good choice." - Petunia was cold and direct.

- "Well, I have a great-aunt in Canada. She's a potions master who specializes in healing potions. She invited me to live with her. As a potions master, she has many useful contacts."

- "Well, if you want to become a healer, it will be useful. You will be in a calm country and you will have minimal support. You will be able to make new friends there too." - Pandora said. - "It is important to prioritize your safety but don't leave before my wedding."

.

Lily wasn't even in her fifth year and was already worrying about her O.W.L.s. It was a bit hasty, to say the least, she could wait at least until the next school year started, Severus barely seemed to care about anything other than the Potions books in front of him.

Lily was a pretty girl and now that puberty had hit her she started to gain curves that were catching the attention of the male population but Lily was oblivious to it, in fact, Petunia had her doubts if her little sister liked girls too by the way she looked at the female qualifiers because it was hard not to look at their asses but she wasn't going to ask about it, after all, everyone has their downfalls at that age she was happy not to be in school when the teenage dramas started.

Ravenclaw hadn't lost a game that year and Gwen was anxious because if they won, Ravenclaw would have a trinity of victories in a row. Even though the students didn't like the sport, they were anxious about the match as an act of support for the house.

The seventh-year students, who were good at transfiguration, were turning whoever's hair blue. The players couldn't because it would give away their location, but all of Ravenclaw had blue hair. The flags were put down and someone made a raven too. The game was against Hufflepuff and because we had beaten Slytherin, the snakes were rooting for the Badgers and the Lions for the Ravens.

Petunia didn't like quidditch, but this time she was taking advantage of it. It would be her last game at school. She had her camera in her hand, taking pictures, but it was difficult because Gwen was the seeker. Luckily, Petunia managed to capture the exact moment her friend caught the snitch. It was a beautiful photo.

The Ravenclaws and Gryffindors screamed in celebration. Her friend caught the cup, and the entire Ravenclaw followed her to the celebration party.

It was nice to see the smiles of joy on the younger students' faces.

The tests started, and Petunia was calm. Nervousness would only get in the way. Well, she had studied all year and revised on the day of the test, but what bothered her were the people around her.

Unfortunately, Eloise's last name was Duncan, and there weren't many students with a D in their last name. Petunia had to deal with her neurotic friend studying alone. God, she hoped she would calm down.

Honestly, taking the NEWTs was easier than the OWLs because at least she could take a break between tests and didn't have to worry about the subjects she didn't like. It was a re-reading of everything she had learned over seven years. She already knew what to expect.

The hardest test was the practical potions test. They had to spend six hours preparing a potion. She couldn't even explain how stressful that test was because every time a student messed up their potion, there would either be an explosion or strange smoke, or both. Petunia delivered an almost perfect potion because it was clearer than described.

The post-NEWS party was great. She even allowed herself to drink a little.

The grades came out in the last week and she was anxious to know her grades.
