Chapter 8

XAVIER

Jessie had left my office totally upset and angry at the fact that I wasn't paying attention to her. I wanted to listen to her but there wasn't much I could say concerning the whole fuss about the marriage and engagement. I knew that she would report me to my mother, the Queen mother and I didn't want to speak to her at the moment.

I was already rounding up with my activities in the office when Elijah came in to see me.

Why does veryone want to see me today? I muttered to myself.

As usual, he entered without even knocking, then started looking around like he owned the place.

Excuse me? Does this look like your office, why would you walk in, like you own the building?" I looked up at him.

He gave me a "Handsome but deadly" smile. He was my little brother whom I loved and cherished so much but he was spoiled and reckless. That was why Mum had her only hope in me for leading the park. Elijah never wanted anything to do with the throne so he left everything about that for me when Dad died.

"You don't always have to be serious. This is an office so I know I'm not disturbing anything private."

"What do you mean? Of course you're disturbing my work." I responded, waiting for him to say exactly why he had to barge into my office that way.

"Anyway," He sat exactly on the same sofa that Jesse had sat on. "Don't you have anything to offer me, like coffee or.."

"Does this look like your house? You should leave." I told him, getting slightly annoyed.

"You don't want me to tell you about my clubbing last night?" He said. I actually didn't want to hear it. Elijah was always out clubbing and partying that I wonder if he truly had a life. "I'll tell you but before them, I met Dom on my way here, what's the talk about a strange woman in the Palace?"

I knew that this was the reason Elijah had come to see me in the first place. He must have been back from one of his many outings and might have heard the rumors from the guards or maids and he wanted to come verify.

It was a miracle that Jessie didn't yet know about Morgana since she knew everything that went on in the Palace.

"Is that what you came to ask me?"

"Yes." Elijah admitted and smiled.

"Well, you don't have to think too deeply about it. She is just a woman who had saved me in the woods and I repaid her by saving her too."

"What do you mean by you saved her?" Elijah asked, listening with rapt attention. He wasn't someone that liked gossip, explanations like this got him bored so I was a bit surprised, he was asking me this question.

I wanted to be careful with Morgana, there was so much at stake and I didn't want to put her in trouble. I couldn't let anyone know that she was rejected and punished by her own Alpha and had "stupidly" followed a Lycan king. They would only see her as an opportunistic person who came to reap where she didn't sow.

"She saved my life and I saved her life too." I responded, thinking that I didn't lie after all. If not because I had saved Morgana, she would have been dead by now. "That's all you need to know." I said bursting his bubbles.

"You know you can tell me anything." He said, like he was about to have a moment with me but I laughed so loud, he got stated. "I also want you to talk to the elders about your accident, someone tried to kill you. I don't know why you are not doing anything about it." He responded.

"What exactly do you want me to do about it?" I asked Elijah. I still hadn't gone to the police to talk about my accident. Infact, Elijah was the only one that knows about it but he thinks it's just a mere accident.

What happened that day was still very clear in my head. I remembered that I had gone to visit a friend at a nearby park but was attacked by some rogues who I believed wanted some money from me. They had collected my money and I had expected them to leave but had beaten me up a pulp.

I was sure I heard the leader of that group asking them if I was dead. The men must have been distracted with the amount of money they had stolen that they didn't pay attention to me, anymore.

When they left, I couldn't move by body and that was when Morgana came running across. I felt a presence so I knew that someone had seen me where I was lying in the woods behind the grasses. The person had hesitated at first and was about to run away when I called out for help. I was Lucky she came back to help me.

I was Lucky she had stopped to help me, if not. I'd probably be dead at the moment. Thinking about the events that led to us meeting, I felt uneasy about the way I had treated her. She was so happy that she was going to be finally saved but it seemed like she was back to her gloomy and sad days.

After Elijah left, after his unnecessary complaints, I wanted to stop by the room of Morgana and speak to her about us and know how she was feeling but I knew it wouldn't be possible.

I called Dom aside and asked him about her.

"The maids you sent had done everything but she still seemed very upset. She never even tried to laugh no matter the funny things I said." Dom responded.

The only thing that stopped me from barging into that room and telling her that everything would be fine was the door. I knew that this wasn't the time for that. I had to fix myself before appearing before her again.
