Behind them, the werewolf's claws clicked against the floor in a rapid staccato as it galloped after them on all fours, its massive form moving with terrifying speed.
"Left or right?!" Eugene shouted as they approached a junction.
"Left!" Lou yelled back, taking point. "Follow me – I know the quickest way out!"
They whipped around the corner, shoes squealing on the polished floor. The werewolf tried to follow but its momentum carried it too far. Its claws scrabbled for purchase as it slid into the far wall, leaving deep gouges in the concrete before it recovered and bounded after them.
"Security checkpoint ahead!" Lou called out between heavy breaths. "Card-locked doors – might slow it down!"
