Jacques sat on the back of the ambulance next to Eugene, both of them wrapped in emergency blankets that sparkled with built-in heat sensors. The dull throb in Jacques' head matched the pulsing of hover-lights from police vehicles scattered across the area. He pressed an ice pack against the growing lump above his right ear.
"Ok," Dubois said, his boots crunching on the debris-littered ground. "Can you guys tell me what happened here?"
Jacques looked up, fighting against the medical drone trying to scan his pupils. "Trust me Chief. Even we can't explain it."
"Yeah," Eugene said, batting away his own persistent drone. "We don't even know where to begin."
