As he rounded a bend and spotted Jean-Claude's tall figure silhouetted against the brightening sky. The vampire stood motionless before three gravestones, fresh flowers adorning each one. Xavier paused a few paces back, clearing his throat.
"Boss. You called for me?"
"Yes," Jean-Claude replied without turning. A cool breeze ruffled his dark coat. "Are you all healed up?"
"100%."
"Good. I want you in your fullest."
Xavier shifted his weight. "Listen, I'm sorry about the kid."
Jean-Claude raised a hand, cutting him off. "No worries. I understand that you were ambushed. It wasn't your fault."
