Dust and debris covered every surface, making it difficult to discern any signs of recent activity.

"See anything?" Siobhàn asked, gazing from one shadowy corner to another.

Morrigan shook her head. "Nothing yet. Let's check the side chapels."

Each alcove they explored yielded nothing but more rubble and broken statues.

"This is hopeless," Siobhàn muttered after their third fruitless search. "Are we sure Kazuo's even here?"

"He has to be," Morrigan replied, though doubt crept into her voice. "Unless..."

"Unless what?"

"Unless he moved on already. Shit, we should have gotten here sooner."

They continued their search, combing through the nave and what remained of the altar area. Siobhàn paused by a fallen column, running her hand along its surface.

"Hey, come look at this."

Morrigan joined her, examining the column. "What am I looking at?"
