Evening in Glimaviel...
The evening breeze was soothing to the touch, the sun was still slowly descending in the horizon.
A figure with a green cloak was walking down the streets, there were not a lot of people so she could move around freely in the open.
She took off her veil for a moment and brushed a few strands of her emerald locks on her face, her gold eyes were glinting with some mischief.
' Little brat, using his only favor for something so mundane, the audacity!'
She looked at the paper she held in her hand, the hand writing was perfect and clean, unlike most children.
Yoru had left Elaris a message before setting foot in the Trials.
"There is this spirit that clings to a teacher of mine, I assume it's a deceased loved one. You can tell just by observing, please comfort her for me. The teacher comes out of class after doing his work every evening, I thank you and appreciate your assistance in advance, Teacher."
– Yoru.
Elaris let out a sigh, frustrated but responsible, she wanted to do this out of her own accord.
" If he used up his only favor in something so boring like this, it has to be because of something, right?"
Elaris asked herself as she turned a corner and spotted what she was looking for.
A mundane teacher at a school meant to prepare students for their future.
She was confident in what her profession is so she did not even look at the spirit clinging to the man directly.
Keeping it in the periphery of her vision, Elaris walked up to the man, closer and closer, she heard the spirits cries.
[My dear... Please I'm already gone, how can you not forget of me??]
It clung tightly to the man, it seemed he was holding onto a locket, with a picture on it as well.
[I couldn't even bare us children! Yet why!? Why are you still holding on to me??? It can't just be love!!]
The spirits body, which Yoru described in detail in the other side of the note.
It had a pale white ish blue color, considering how the note was a week before he got into the trials and the description being out dated...
" She's turning into a sea blue color, she seems to grow darker as well..." Elaris muttered to herself as she followed the man and the spirit.
" A soul that can't go into rest because she is looking for an answer, not because of some big regret, she needs to find an answer..."
An answer for what?
That, Elaris needed and wanted to find out!
This is one of the few thrills of being a shaman.
* * *
Evening in Glimaviel. . .
Bells suddenly started chiming af a large open area.
Guards poured in and stood by at the entrance and exit of a cave, sounds of heavy breathing, gasps and footsteps could be heard deep within.
A professor, a stern and strict looking woman in her thirties.
She commanded the guards to put some space and stand by for a while.
Suddenly, several shadows emerged inside the cave, some had school uniforms but others had make shift armor or different kinds of clothes.
The few others though.
They had armor on, it looked dull and used, dents littered the chest plates and signs of burns and scratch marks were obvious.
One person seemed to be less worn out though, belonging to a young girl with purple hair, pale green ish blue eyes and had a slender figure.
"Welcome back everyone."
The stern looking woman suddenly spoke, catching the attention of the young youths who just got out of the cave.
It's only been a few weeks, but for them it seemed like years, their bodies have already been refined, and so have their minds.
Shaped and built to perfection... Partially.
"Are we... Back?"
One of the youths said, he had the worst looking markings on his armor, and he was part of a middle-low clan.
The stern woman nodded and spoke:
"Welcome back to Glimaviel, Awakened. You've all grown quite well, I am a—"
Then the woman was cut off as the purpled haired girl stepped forward, limping and leaned on one of her friends.
" Ho... How long...?"
The woman looked at the state the girl was in, she was a professor and had to have good memory to remember the plentiful students.
She looked at the young girl over once more, and noticed a depressing detail...
' Her eyes... They weren't like this before.'
Her eyes used to be the eye catching greenish blue, a vibrant color that anyone would always remember.
Now it seemed pale and lifeless...
They were unfocused as well, she faced at a certain direction but her eyes didn't seem to be in focus.
Blind... She's blind.
The woman sighed and knelt down and placed a hand on the young girls shoulder, it was trembling and she was holding some tears back.
"It's only been a week and a half, young one."
The girl let out a sigh, trying her best not to collapse, she just nodded slowly.
Everyone had the same reaction as well.
"We're... Sixteen now, professor..."
They muttered through their clenched teeth, as some have already started to tear up, collapsing on the ground even.
Four years.
The professor looked at the pitifully and opened her arms wide.
The youths saw this and walked up to her, then she embraced them in a warm hug, looking at the surrounding guards, she silently urged them to leave and get some space.
There were only 10 out of the 16 survivors of this group.
Tears started streaming down their faces as they vented their sadness, their suffering.
The professor embraced them and listened to their experiences sincerely, giving them all a comforting hug each time.
After they seemed to have calmed down, she then spoke:
"It's all right now...." Then she added, "Welcome back, Awakened of the East Trials."
