Yun Yun

"What kind of magical beast is this? I've never seen anything like it before," Xiao Yu murmured, confused by the sight of the snow-white beast before him.

The small creature had taut limbs, eyes glowing with an eerie red light, but it exhibited no detectable energy fluctuations, which was unusual. Normally, even a first-tier magical beast would have some energy fluctuations. The Cloud Wood Elephant across from it seemed wary of the little creature.

With a loud trumpet, the Cloud Wood Elephant, a second-tier magical beast, raised its front hoof and stomped towards the little beast. If the stomp landed, the small creature would be doomed. Just as Xiao Yu was about to intervene, a faint red membrane enveloped the white beast.

Boom!

The red membrane's rebound force sent the massive Cloud Wood Elephant flying, and the sound of trees breaking followed. Xiao Yu realized why so many trees had been destroyed and understood that the Cloud Wood Elephant's wariness was due to the red membrane surrounding the small beast.

The Cloud Wood Elephant, with a mournful cry, slowly got up and left, displaying reluctance. Xiao Yu, curious about the small beast, lightly flapped his Purple Cloud Wings and descended from the tree.

The little white beast, which had relaxed, suddenly tensed up again. It watched Xiao Yu warily, guarding against his every move. Up close, Xiao Yu noticed that the creature had two pupils—one large and red, the other smaller and blue. The red pupil seemed fiery, while the blue one was calm, representing heat and cold, respectively.

Whoosh!

The small white beast suddenly moved with a flash of white light, darting away at high speed while Xiao Yu was momentarily distracted. Xiao Yu smiled faintly, then used his fighting spirit to turn into a blur, chasing after the creature. With Moon's extreme speed, Xiao Yu quickly caught up with the small beast.

The little white beast snarled at Xiao Yu, but its appearance made it look more comically fierce than threatening. This time, Xiao Yu didn't give it a chance to escape. He reached out, grabbed the little beast by the back of its neck, and lifted it up.

The little beast clearly did not expect this outcome. It struggled frantically, making squeaky noises at Xiao Yu. Oddly, the protective red membrane did not reappear. Xiao Yu guessed that the membrane only manifested in life-threatening situations. Since Xiao Yu meant no harm, it did not appear.

Xiao Yu held the little beast in front of him for a closer look. It resembled a tiger but also had some feline features, with a large head, short claws, and a snow-white, extremely soft fur. Its small, short legs flailed around adorably.

"You're too dangerous here in the magical beast mountains. How about you come with me? I could use a companion," Xiao Yu said with a gentle smile.

The little creature seemed to understand Xiao Yu's words or sensed his lack of malice, so it stopped struggling. Xiao Yu smiled, patted the little beast's head, and put it into his pocket. With a gentle flap of his Purple Cloud Wings, Xiao Yu flew back to his cave.

Back at the cave, Xiao Yu took out the little beast, which appeared displeased with his rough handling. It scratched at him twice with its claws before calming down.

As night fell, Xiao Yu lit a campfire to drive away the chill from the forest. The little beast seemed to enjoy the warmth and lay down by the fire, falling asleep without a worry about Xiao Yu. Xiao Yu shook his head in amusement at the little creature's carefree attitude.

He then took out a mountain chicken he had hunted earlier, seasoned it with his homemade spices, and set it to roast over the fire. Soon, the aroma of roasted meat filled the cave. The little beast, sniffing the smell, woke up and stared intently at the roasting chicken, drooling.

Seeing this, Xiao Yu chuckled, "Are you a little glutton?"

The small beast didn't look at Xiao Yu but kept its eyes on the roasting chicken. Xiao Yu took the cooked chicken and, tempted by its golden, oil-dripping skin, tore off a leg and handed it to the small beast. It eagerly bit into it and ran off to devour it.

Xiao Yu smiled, then began eating his share. Soon, the chicken was reduced to a pile of bones. After finishing, Xiao Yu burped and said to the little beast, "Since you're going to follow me, I'll give you a name. How about 'Little White'?"

The little beast blinked its small eyes, and Xiao Yu continued, "Since you didn't protest, I'll call you Little White from now on."

"It can't confirm that just by not speaking," a clear, cold voice came from the cave entrance. Little White darted behind Xiao Yu as he tensed and looked up. A woman dressed in a plain gown, appearing very noble, slowly walked into the cave.

Xiao Yu assessed her. For someone to approach silently without him noticing, they would need at least the strength of a Dou King. Even with his soul perception, he shouldn't have missed someone at the Dou Spirit level.

Realizing this, Xiao Yu gripped his ink-scaled sword tightly and circulated his dou qi vigorously, prepared to defend himself despite the slim chance of survival.

The woman seemed to sense the tension between Xiao Yu and the beast and spoke coldly, "I mean no harm. I just passed by and wanted to rest for a while."

Xiao Yu asked, "Why are you in the Magical Beast Mountains? What's your name, and where are you from?"

"I'm here to find a medicinal herb. My name is Yun Zhi. As for my background, I can't disclose it right now," the woman replied after a moment of thought.

Xiao Yu was stunned. He hadn't expected to encounter Yun Yun here. No wonder he hadn't sensed her presence earlier—she was a Dou Emperor!

Yun Yun glanced at the little white beast hiding behind Xiao Yu and asked, "What kind of magical beast is this?"

Xiao Yu looked at Yun Yun, surprised that she didn't recognize the beast. Given the vast number of magical beasts on the Fighting Spirit Continent, it was understandable.

"I don't know either. It's just a pet I've taken in," Xiao Yu said, shaking his head.

Yun Yun didn't dwell on it and nodded slightly, "May I rest here for the night?"

Xiao Yu didn't understand why Yun Yun wanted to rest here, but he sensed no malice and agreed.

"What's your name?" Yun Yun asked.

"Xiao Shiyi," Xiao Yu answered without hesitation. He had always liked the name from his past life and used it here, figuring Yun Yun wasn't using her real name either.

"How old are you?" Yun Yun inquired.

Xiao Yu looked at her with curiosity. Yun Yun paused, then said, "Given your talent and strength, and since I have a good relationship with the Yun Lan Sect, do you know about the Yun Lan Sect?"

Xiao Yu realized Yun Yun was interested in recruiting a talented individual for the Yun Lan Sect.

"Oh? What kind of relationship do you have with the Yun Lan Sect?" Xiao Yu asked, a hint of teasing in his eyes.
