Can You Afford to Play This Game

Qin Ruohan hated Zhang Yongfu to the core. The moment she saw him, her heart filled with resentment and hatred. The man who had destroyed her family and her life was right in front of her, this wretched scumbag!

After Zhang Yongfu spoke, he waved his hand, and Zhou Yunkang obediently left the room. Now, only the three of them remained, along with five or six bodyguards scattered around the corners.

Chen Liuhe subtly scanned the surroundings. There was a floor-to-ceiling window beside the dining table, offering a view of the vibrant city outside. He glanced out casually, a playful smirk forming at the corner of his mouth. Who knows what he saw or what he was thinking?

"Brother Chen, you're not from around here, are you? I've never heard of someone like you before," Zhang Yongfu started, testing the waters with his first question.

Chen Liuhe chuckled lightly. "You've got sharp eyes, Boss Zhang. I've only been in Hang City for a short while."

Zhang Yongfu nodded. "Were you in the military before?"

"Yeah, served a few years," Chen Liuhe replied with a smile. His tone was relaxed and carefree, yet there was an undeniable sense of confidence behind it.

"No wonder. You give off a different vibe," Zhang Yongfu remarked with a small laugh. "They say if you don't have the skills, don't take on the job. Since you've dared to meddle in the Black Dragon Gang's affairs, I guess you've got something up your sleeve?"

Chen Liuhe smiled. "I wouldn't say I'm confident, but I'm hoping you, Boss Zhang, could show some mercy. President Qin has already been through a lot. Why not let this go? After all, we're all just in this for the money. There's no need to be so ruthless."

Zhang Yongfu's tone turned cold. "If this is a negotiation, what's your bargaining chip? It can't just be that little bit of evidence you used to threaten Zhou Yunkang, can it? My useless son-in-law might be a womanizer with no shame, and yes, you did hit his weak spot with that, but you've miscalculated one thing—his influence within the Black Dragon Gang."

Pausing for a moment, Zhang Yongfu continued, "I've known about all the despicable things he's done, including the fact that he even dared to go after my woman. But do you know why I've turned a blind eye to it?"

Looking at them both, Zhang Yongfu said, "It's because Zhou Yunkang is cowardly and has no ambition. A man like him is perfect as my son-in-law—at least he won't have the guts to plot against me or try to take my place."

Chen Liuhe scoffed. "So, you don't mind sharing a woman with him? And the man you're sharing with is also sleeping with your daughter?"

"Kid, you've got a death wish!" the burly man standing behind Zhang Yongfu shouted angrily, quickly pulling out a gun from his waist and pointing it at Chen Liuhe, his face filled with murderous intent as if he was ready to pull the trigger any second.

Qin Ruohan's expression changed in fear, but Chen Liuhe remained calm, lighting a cigarette without even glancing at the gunman.

His composure alone made Zhang Yongfu inwardly uneasy. After a long pause, Zhang Yongfu raised a hand, motioning for his bodyguard to lower his gun.

"Women are insignificant," Zhang Yongfu said. Chen Liuhe laughed, the mockery evident in his expression.

Zhang Yongfu looked at him and said, "You don't seem to fear death."

"Of course I'm afraid of death," Chen Liuhe replied. "But it'll take more than a cheap gun to kill me." After a pause, he added mockingly, "As for you, Boss Zhang, you seem terrified of dying. You can't even have a meal without bringing along this many bodyguards, all armed with guns. Done too many bad things, huh?"

Zhang Yongfu chuckled. "Better safe than sorry."

Chen Liuhe smirked. "Then you'd better be extra careful. Wouldn't want your ship to hit a rock and sink faster than you expect."

"My men and their guns can clear any obstacles in my path," Zhang Yongfu sneered.

Before Chen Liuhe could respond, Zhang Yongfu cut him off, staring directly at him. "Brother Chen, I can tell you're a capable man. Why not join me? I value talent, and if you work for me, I can give you 10% of 'Golden Fortune Hall's' shares. Isn't that better than working for President Qin?"

"You should be able to see I'm being sincere," Zhang Yongfu said. Qin Ruohan instantly grew tense, her eyes fixed on Chen Liuhe, her hands clenched tightly in fear that he might be tempted by the offer.

Chen Liuhe blew out a smoke ring and asked with a smile, "And what if I don't agree?"

"Well then, don't blame me for being ruthless. You're no savior; you can't save anyone," Zhang Yongfu said coldly. "If I can't have you, I won't let you stand against me. If you insist, I won't hesitate to make you disappear from this world."

"So, this really is a banquet of death," Chen Liuhe chuckled. "I'm curious. Do you really dare to pull the trigger here?"

"You're welcome to try me," Zhang Yongfu replied. With that, the six bodyguards in the room all drew their guns, pointing them at Chen Liuhe. Zhang Yongfu sat calmly. "The gunshots will be nothing more than firecrackers, and your bodies will sink to the bottom of the lake. No one will know you ever entered this restaurant."

Chen Liuhe remained unbothered, leaning back lazily in his chair, cigarette in hand. He glanced around the room and said, "I'm just afraid none of this will happen as you planned."

"You really have no idea what's good for you," Zhang Yongfu sneered. He didn't believe for a second that Chen Liuhe, cornered by six guns, could pull off any tricks.

Chen Liuhe calmly surveyed the room again and shook his head. "Boss Zhang, you're not much of a host. We haven't even started eating, and you're already flipping the table."

"No worries, I'm happy to serve you some bullets."

As soon as Zhang Yongfu gave the signal, just as the gunmen were about to fire, Chen Liuhe moved. He kicked the leg of Qin Ruohan's chair, sending her tumbling under the table.

At the same time, Chen Liuhe shifted his body, dodging a bullet. Without looking, he grabbed a pair of chopsticks from the table and threw them. Two screams followed as the chopsticks pierced through the arms of the bodyguards behind Zhang Yongfu.

In less than three seconds, Chen Liuhe had disarmed all six gunmen. It happened so fast that even Zhang Yongfu couldn't react, let alone Qin Ruohan, who was still under the table. She only heard gunshots and screams. When she looked up at the chaotic scene, she was completely stunned. She couldn't comprehend how those six strong men had been taken down by Chen Liuhe. And he was completely unharmed.

It was beyond her understanding, utterly unbelievable.

Chen Liuhe leisurely walked over to Zhang Yongfu, pressing the gun lightly against his forehead, the same mocking smile on his face. "Boss Zhang, what did I tell you? Your ship would sink. Do you believe me now?"

Zhang Yongfu, still in shock, stared at Chen Liuhe, cold sweat dripping from his forehead. One thought ran through his mind—was this guy even human? How could anyone be this terrifying?

Chen Liuhe glanced casually out of the floor-to-ceiling window toward a tall building across the street. "Boss Zhang, shouldn't you tell your buddy on the rooftop to take a break? He's been holding that sniper rifle for hours in this heat. Don't want him getting heatstroke."

"H-How did you know?" Zhang Yongfu stammered, fear spreading through him. That sniper was his secret trump card, meant as a last resort, but Chen Liuhe had seen right through it.

"You think I'd come to your little banquet without a plan?" Chen Liuhe said coolly, pressing the gun harder against Zhang Yongfu's head.

Trembling, Zhang Yongfu raised his hand and signaled toward the building. However, his eyes subtly narrowed—this wasn't a signal to retreat, but to fire.

But before the sniper could pull the trigger, Chen Liuhe yanked Zhang Yongfu up and slammed him against the glass window.

Grabbing Zhang Yongfu by the hair, Chen Liuhe pressed the gun to his neck, his cold gaze sweeping across the street as if he could see the sniper through the hundreds of meters of distance. The sniper's hands trembled, almost dropping his rifle. Even though it was impossible for Chen Liuhe to spot him, he couldn't shake the fear from that icy stare. He had no courage left to pull the trigger.

"Boss Zhang, do you really think you can play games with your life? Can you afford it?" Chen Liuhe's voice was laced with a chilling menace, sending a shiver down Zhang Yongfu's spine.

"Let's make a bet. Who do you think is faster—your sniper, or me?" Chen Liuhe sneered.

Zhang Yongfu's face was drenched in sweat
