Chapter 48: Teasing Chen Qingyan

In the underground cave, Lin Fengmian suddenly opened his eyes, then crouched down to listen for a moment, his expression changing slightly.

He quickly leaned closer to Chen Qingyan and whispered, "Someone's coming."

Chen Qingyan also released her spiritual sense, listening intently for a moment before her face changed drastically. "It's those demon monks!"

"We have to escape!" Lin Fengmian exclaimed anxiously.

"There's a small pond ahead; we should be able to get out through there."

Chen Qingyan tried to stand but stumbled forward, and Lin Fengmian caught her just in time.

She sighed, "My condition is worse than I thought!"

Lin Fengmian thought to himself that was obvious—he had exhausted himself after enduring so much.

Without a second thought, he bent down and hoisted her up, running deeper into the cave.

Chen Qingyan didn't have the strength to protest, wrapping her arms around him to ease his burden. After all, being held by Lin Fengmian was much better than falling into the hands of those demon monks.

As Lin Fengmian carried her and dashed forward, he was relieved that Chen Qingyan wasn't heavy. His physical condition had improved significantly compared to before, or he wouldn't have been able to manage.

Before long, he spotted the small pond Chen Qingyan mentioned and jumped in without hesitation.

Upon entering the water, he realized how turbulent the current was; it nearly swept him away, but he managed to hold on to Chen Qingyan.

Chen Qingyan wasn't a strong swimmer; she had relied on her cultivation to hold her breath earlier. Now, having lost her powers and choked on a few mouthfuls of water, she felt panic rising.

In her current state of fear, she worried that Lin Fengmian might let go, and if that happened, she'd either drown or be captured by the demon monks—both outcomes would be worse than death.

Fortunately, Lin Fengmian had no intention of letting go. He firmly pulled her onto his back.

Understanding his intent, Chen Qingyan wrapped her arms around him from behind, her legs clinging to his waist, pressing herself tightly against him.

Lin Fengmian ignored the discomfort of her body against his, swimming with all his might against the current.

Behind them, splashes echoed, indicating that someone was following, which terrified him, making him swim even faster.

Halfway through, he noticed that Chen Qingyan was squeezing him tighter. When he turned to look, her face was flushed, and she was struggling to breathe.

He leaned in to give her a breath, but Chen Qingyan didn't cooperate—he was neither a giraffe nor a flying creature, and he found himself stuck.

Eventually, Chen Qingyan couldn't hold it anymore and kissed him, seizing the opportunity for a breath.

She thought, "What the heck, a kiss is a kiss, whether it's once or twice—he's kissed me already."

After what felt like an eternity, both of them thought they might drown.

Finally, Lin Fengmian spotted a glimmer of light and swam hard toward it, breaking through the water's surface.

Once on shore, they gasped for air, with Chen Qingyan coughing up a few mouthfuls of water, looking utterly disheveled.

Lin Fengmian didn't linger, quickly getting up and carrying her away.

Suddenly, Qingfeng Ye flew out of his storage bag, landing at his feet and lifting them both into the air.

He held Chen Qingyan while stepping on Qingfeng Ye, flying low through the trees with impressive agility, leaving her dumbfounded.

Wasn't this guy supposed to be incapable of flying?

How was he managing it so smoothly and skillfully now?

Was he just pretending all along?

Lin Fengmian didn't have time to worry about that; he had no idea how many demon monks were behind them, and that was far more terrifying than falling.

He focused entirely on navigating Qingfeng Ye, weaving left and right to confuse their pursuers.

But the area was limited, and with their spiritual senses, the enemies would surely catch up. He needed to find a hiding spot.

As he searched, his eyes lit up when he spotted a muddy area.

He guided Qingfeng Ye down, making Chen Qingyan look alarmed. "What are you doing?"

"Sorry, Senior Sister!" Lin Fengmian took a deep breath and without further ado, he kissed her forcefully, laying them both in the mud.

Soon, they began to sink as murky water flowed in from all sides, enveloping them.

All sounds from the outside world vanished, and Chen Qingyan shut her eyes, remaining completely still in the muck.

Surrounded by eerie silence and darkness, fear crept in.

She could only cling tightly to Lin Fengmian, seeking the warmth of life.

At that moment, Lin Fengmian held her close, their chests pressed together.

Though faint, she could hear his heartbeat amidst the stillness, which eased her fear—at least she wasn't alone.

Lin Fengmian noticed her heartbeat too and couldn't help but chuckle.

"Senior Sister, your… ample figure is quite obstructive to the heartbeat transfer!"

They lay quietly in the mud, relying on Lin Fengmian's internal energy to provide her with breath, preventing her from suffocating.

The depth of the mud was uncertain, and Lin Fengmian was cautious not to move too much, fearing they might sink deeper and get stuck.

Time dragged on, and what started as fear turned into a calm heartbeat.

It was then that he realized he was holding the fairy he had once dreamed of, and they had kissed.

This thought stirred something strange within him, and recalling her usual attitude toward him, he felt a playful urge to tease her.

Feeling her soft lips part again, Lin Fengmian playfully passed her another breath and even teasingly stuck out his tongue.

She gritted her teeth, refusing to relent.

Lin Fengmian waited a long time until she finally couldn't hold her breath any longer, loosening her grip, and he seized the opportunity to find her small, fragrant tongue.

Chen Qingyan was furious, dodging him while pinching him hard from behind, hoping to make him stop.

But he only intensified his teasing, prompting her to bite down hard, the faint taste of blood spreading, making him retreat momentarily.

However, he returned to tease her again, seemingly enjoying himself immensely!

After an hour, Lin Fengmian took advantage of an opening, managing to catch her tongue a few times.

Each time, she bit him, but other than the first time, her bites weren't too severe.

Lin Fengmian found himself enjoying the distraction amidst the boredom.

But soon, he realized that she had been biting down for quite a while this time.

He felt a twinge of panic. "Is Senior Sister unconscious?"

In a rush, he pinched her waist, only to receive a bite on his lip as her soft lips pulled away from him.

Oh no!

Lin Fengmian suddenly realized that Chen Qingyan had regained her strength and some of her spiritual energy; she didn't need him to provide breath anymore.

After teasing her for so long, what kind of punishment would he face now?

Would she just let him drown in this muck? Would he rot away?

What eased his anxiety somewhat was that Chen Qingyan hadn't pushed him away; they were still tightly embraced.
