11:A MIDNIGHT COMPANION

After finishing her chat with Jake, Ivy felt a sense of calm and contentment. She placed her phone on the nightstand and decided to go downstairs to get a cup of milk. The house was quiet, with everyone having gone to bed after the long day of celebrations. Ivy felt a bit thirsty and remembered what her doctor had said about staying hydrated, especially because of her SCID. It was important for her to maintain her health by drinking plenty of fluids.

As Ivy descended the grand staircase, the soft glow of the nightlights illuminated her path. The house, usually bustling with activity, now felt serene and peaceful. The only sounds were the gentle hum of the air purifier and the faint ticking of the grandfather clock in the hallway.

Reaching the bottom of the stairs, Ivy made her way to the kitchen. The refrigerator was conveniently located near the pantry, making it easy to access food and drinks. This placement followed the kitchen triangle design rule, which positions the refrigerator, oven, and sink to form a triangle, increasing the efficiency and flo

The moonlight streamed through the large windows, casting a silvery glow across the room. She opened the refrigerator, its cool air brushing against her face. The fridge was well-organized, with neatly arranged shelves holding various food items. Ivy reached for the milk, feeling the smooth, cold surface of the glass bottle.

As she stood by the kitchen counter, lost in her thoughts, she heard the soft patter of paws on the hardwood floor. Turning around, she saw their little Shih Tzu puppy, Toby, trotting towards her, its tail wagging enthusiastically. The puppy's long, silky fur shimmered in the moonlight, and its big, dark eyes looked up at her with pure adoration.

"Hey there, Toby," Ivy whispered, bending down to give the puppy a gentle pat. The puppy responded with a happy bark, its tail wagging even faster. Ivy couldn't help but smile at the sight of the little furball's excitement.

Seeing Toby brought back a flood of memories. She remembered the day they brought him home, his tiny body fitting perfectly in her arms. She had missed him so much during her stay at the hospital and now, seeing him again, she felt a surge of affection.

The puppy, still full of energy despite the late hour, nuzzled against Ivy's leg, seeking attention. Ivy picked up Toby, cradling him in her arms. The warmth and softness of his fur brought her a sense of comfort and joy.

"You're such a good boy," Ivy murmured, stroking Toby's head. The puppy licked her cheek in response, making her giggle softly. She carried Toby over to the living room, where she sat down on the couch, the puppy nestled in her lap.

As she sipped her milk, Ivy reflected on the day's events. The surprise welcome party, the love and support from her family and friends, and the comforting presence of Jake all filled her heart with gratitude. The puppy, sensing her contentment, settled down and rested its head on her lap, its eyes slowly closing.

Ivy felt a deep sense of peace as she sat there, the quiet of the night wrapping around her like a warm blanket. The puppy's gentle breathing and the rhythmic ticking of the clock were the only sounds in the room. She knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, she had a strong support system and a loving family to help her through.

After finishing her milk, Ivy gently placed the sleeping puppy back on the floor. It stretched and yawned before curling up into a cozy ball. Ivy smiled, feeling a surge of affection for the little creature.

She made her way back upstairs, the puppy following her with sleepy steps. As she reached her room, she turned to the puppy and whispered, "Goodnight, Toby." The puppy wagged its tail one last time before heading to its own bed in the corner of the living room, a soft, plush bed that was just his size.

Entering her room, Ivy felt a sense of comfort wash over her. She walked over to her desk and sat down, pulling out her diary. The diary was a beautiful leather-bound book, its pages filled with her thoughts and memories. She opened it to a fresh page and began to write, detailing the day's events.

"Dear Diary," she began, "Today was one of the best days I've had in a long time. The surprise welcome party was incredible. I felt so loved and appreciated by everyone. Jake, Sophie, Trev, and my parents went above and beyond to make me feel special, the love, the care, even the james and a lot of people showed up. The decorations, the games, the food—it was all perfect."

She continued to write, describing the joy she felt playing games with her friends, the delicious health-friendly foods she enjoyed, and the heartfelt conversations she had. She wrote about the moment she shared with Jake, his comforting words, and how much it meant to her.

"I can't believe how lucky I am to have such amazing people in my life," Ivy wrote. "Jake is so supportive and understanding. I love him so much. And Toby, our little puppy, is such a joy. He always knows how to make me smile."

After finishing her entry, Ivy closed her diary and placed it back in the drawer. She climbed into her bed, pulling the covers up around her. As she settled in, a sudden wave of fear washed over her. She remembered the nightmare she had the night before, the darkness and the feeling of being alone. The thought of experiencing it again made her heart race.

Ivy's mind raced with worry, the fear of another nightmare making her scared to sleep. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She reminded herself of the love and support she had, the people who cared for her, and the strength she had found within herself.
