Go wild with the powerstones..
----
Raising my sword, I stopped the claws of the ghoul from ripping my face apart.
I was now standing in a field surrounded by large boulders. In the horizon, very far away, I can see a construct glowing purple. Just as I suspected, the undead were getting stronger the closer I got to the Castle of Shadows. If I didn't find a large ghoul, then I found a few normal sized ones in a group.
Case in point, I was fighting three of them right now. Well, two. I managed to kill one in a surprise attack. While I was holding back one, another came in from behind me to stab me with its claws.
I leaned to the side, just barely missing literally being stabbed in the back. Pulling out of my knives with one hand, I stabbed it in the head of the one that tried to attack me and pushed him away with it.
I pulled my sword back, jumping away from the one in front of in a sudden way that made it stumble forward. Taking out another knife, I swiftly stabbed it in the ghoul's forehead - of where I guess his forehead is since I can't tell from the shadows and rags-and pushed it away.
"You'd think Scathach would keep this place clean since... you know, it's her job to take care of undead," I sighed - I can sigh now since I have lungs - while shaking my head. "Seriously, did she leave those on-"
I stopped as a sound started echoing in the field. At first, I didn't know what it was because the echo was too much, but I slowly started to recognise it. It was the sound of something metallic being dragged through the ground.
Soon enough, the source became apparent. It was a ghoul, but this one wasn't like the others. It was human-sized, sure, but unlike the rest, it had remains of armor on it alongside carrying a sword and dragging it with one its hands. It also looked... more built, body-wise, than the previous ghouls.
It didn't take me long to realise what that was. It was one of the remnants of warriors. This thing was basically a lower form of shadow servants. It showed that it actually knew what it was doing by the fact it straightened its back when it noticed me.
I held up my sword and glared. It immediately attacked me, raising its sword and bringing it down. I dodged to the left and swung my sword for its neck.
However, unlike previous ghouls which pretty much didn't know how move much, that thing had experience if only in muscle memory. It jumped back and avoided my blade.
The ghoul raised his blade again and tried to cut me in half. I wasn't used to ghouls dodging and attacking back, so my reaction time was a little sloppy. I did jump back, but I was slow enough that the ghoul managed to cut through my chest.
It didn't cut through my skin, since the puppet body was strong and the ghoul was using a normal sword, but I still felt the sting of the sharp edge on my chest.
I raised my sword and swung down. The ghoul raised its own sword to block the strike. Jumping back, I held my sword up and stared down the ghoul.
"I've gone from being the Ultimate One of Earth to struggling against a ghoul. What a disgrace," I groaned, glaring at my opponent.
Then I remembered something. I am controlling the puppet body through the heart made of Yggdrasil Wood. I can control more than one element at the same time.
So, can I still manipulate elements in my puppet body.
Looking at the ground under the ghoul, I began focusing on it to try and make it split open and drop him underground. However, all I managed to do was twist the the surface a bit to make it uneven.
That, however, proved to be enough because when that thing tried to step forward towards me, its leg was caught in the uneven ground and it tripped.
Taking my chance, I charged forward and cut off the ghoul's head with a powerful swing to the neck. The ghoul's body dropped on the ground and began disappearing alongside the sword.
"This is so annoying," I grumbled, trying to get my breath under control. "Why do Elementals actually confine themselves into human forms?"
I didn't hate it, per se, its just that - using an example I've already used before - it's like being trapped in a bottle made of flesh, muscles, bones, and blood.
I don't understand how other Elementals like Yu just put up being made of flesh and blood. Sure, that's basically her nature because she's a vampire, but it just... doesn't feel right.
Gil once said I was too much of an Elemental. I guess he was right.
A groan broke me out of my thoughts as I saw one of the larger ghouls appear from behind one of the boulders. I guess it was drawn in by the sound of battle.
"Dammit. Not a moment to rest," I groaned as I raised my sword.
I prepared to fight as the ghoul started walking closer at me. If they kept coming one after another without letting me rest the puppet body, they'll overrun me.
*Splat!*
However, I didn't have to worry about that because something actually swatted the large ghoul away, making it go splat on one of the large boulders.
I looked at the one that did that and...
"Fluffy..." I mumbled by accident.
Because that's all I can think about when looking at the one that killed the ghoul.
