Chapter 47: So It Really Was Her

To be honest, when Mo Jiale came to ask him, Lin Jie had already suspected that the one looking for him might be either Ye Mo or Su Jia Mu.

However, he quickly dismissed the former, since the latter had at least seen him and Mo Jiale go out together. If she had followed secretly, it would still be somewhat understandable... No, understandable my foot. What, is she a stalker?

But what about Ye Mo?

Lin Jie had no idea how she would know where he was... What, is she some kind of heiress from a wealthy family in a TV drama, able to track people down with just a phone call?

Give me a break, bro.

Thus, Lin Jie continued to maintain his leisurely posture and lazy demeanor. Slightly tipsy, his eyes were filled with nonchalance, not taking anyone seriously.

If it was indeed Su Jia Mu who had come, then Lin Jie saw no reason to change his behavior.

The noisy crowd began to quiet down as they turned their curious gazes towards the door of the private room that had just swung open. The only sound left was the voice of the girl beside Lin Jie, still singing with devotion.

The girl singing was doing her best to show off her charms... she was the type who usually had her own admirers outside. She was used to being above others, but this time, the one sitting high above was someone else.

It seemed like someone was here for the guy next to her. She discreetly observed him, only to find that his expression remained unchanged, as if he didn't care who was looking for him.

Under the dim lights, the slightly intoxicated young man seemed even more alluring. Her heart skipped a beat, and she sang with even more dedication.

As the voice calling Lin Jie's name echoed, all eyes turned to the doorway, and they finally saw the one who had spoken.

Their initial irritation at being interrupted quickly shifted to a moment of stunned admiration.

It was Ye Mo.

A white baseball cap concealed her long hair, tied up beneath it, and half of her face, but there was no mistaking it—she was undeniably beautiful. One glance at the alluring lips and the perfect jawline beneath the cap was enough to know she was breathtaking.

Her tall, slender figure, clad in light blue, revealed skin as fair as snow. Her long legs under loose white pants were a visual knockout, captivating everyone's attention.

Ye Mo's outfit was fresh yet chic, exuding an air of cool detachment and elegance.

With a slight tilt of her head, her cold gaze swept across the room before finally landing on Lin Jie, whose expression resembled that of someone seeing a ghost.

Ye Mo sneered and strode directly toward Lin Jie.

His face truly looked like he'd seen a ghost. From the moment he heard her voice, all of Lin Jie's carefree attitude evaporated, leaving him dumbfounded.

Ye Mo's presence was so overwhelming, her aura so commanding, that everyone could only stare blankly as she approached, even the bar staff didn't dare intervene, allowing her to walk right up to Lin Jie.

Lin Jie quickly lowered his head, reaching for his glass, but didn't dare to lift it to drink. Instead, he nervously rubbed its edge with his fingertips.

"Excuse me, could you move?"

Ye Mo flashed a perfunctory smile at the girl sitting next to Lin Jie, who was still singing... a love song, no less!

Her eyes were brimming with affection as she gazed at Lin Jie. Such brazen intentions! How shameless!

Ye Mo fumed inwardly.

The girl clearly didn't want to move. She tried to refuse Ye Mo with just a glance, but Ye Mo's presence was too commanding, her beauty too striking. With just one look, the girl felt the urge to retreat.

She hesitated... Fortunately, at that moment, her friend stepped in to break the tension, pulling her away under the pretense of buying something, finally freeing up the seat beside Lin Jie.

Before leaving, the girl cast an unwilling glance at both Ye Mo and Lin Jie.

"Having fun, little brother?" Ye Mo leisurely sat down next to Lin Jie, gesturing to the table full of drinks. The waiter snapped back to attention and hurried over to pour her a glass.

"Hmm?" Ye Mo picked up the glass between her thumb and forefinger, giving it a little shake toward Lin Jie. Her gaze was piercing, and Lin Jie, without a second thought, clinked his glass with hers, keeping his own glass much lower.

"Haha, it's alright. I'm just here hanging out with friends, just drinking, nothing more, haha…"

"Just drinking?" Ye Mo elegantly crossed her long legs, looking down at Lin Jie with a haughty stare.

Lin Jie was utterly baffled by her question and could only force a silly grin to cover his confusion.

Inwardly, Lin Jie was full of questions, trying to figure out how Ye Mo even knew he was drinking, and how she had shown up here so precisely.

In truth, Ye Mo had found out Lin Jie was drinking purely by accident.

Before learning that Lin Jie was at the bar, Ye Mo had been blissfully soaking in a hotel bathtub, enjoying the luxurious sensation of a rose petal bath caressing her skin.

She was in a great mood, having followed Yunduo's advice to act cold toward Lin Jie. Sure enough, he had become a bit more attentive since then.

But before Ye Mo had a chance to share her delight with Yunduo, she received a message from a promoter, the same one who had taken her to the bar last time.

The promoter was quite tactful, not saying outright what Lin Jie was up to. Instead, she casually asked Ye Mo where she was and offered to come pick her up, subtly hinting at whether Ye Mo knew Lin Jie had come to the bar.

Yes, it was all because Lin Jie had the bad luck of being spotted by the promoter, who promptly tattled.

Ye Mo's good mood vanished instantly.

Especially after learning that there were other girls in the private room, she didn't even bother finishing her bath. She got dressed and came straight over.

"Hey, sis, what brings you here? Are you out having fun by yourself?" Lin Jie's feigned ignorance left Ye Mo exasperated. Honestly, every time she got angry, she wanted to leave him here and sever ties completely. But the moment she saw him, she couldn't help but soften.

Fine, fine, she was the older one. She would look after him.

But what Ye Mo hadn't expected was that Lin Jie had the nerve to look utterly confused, as if he thought she was just here to have fun at the bar, too.

"What, you think it's okay for you to have fun, but I can't?" Ye Mo scoffed in disbelief.

Lin Jie quickly shook his head, stammering, "No, no, sis, you can go anywhere you like. It's your choice."

Ye Mo shot him an annoyed glare, growing increasingly angry... She had come here out of concern that he might be duped by some other girl, and now he was questioning if she had come to the bar alone?

What would she be doing alone at a bar?

She didn't even like bars!

And what was that last line of his supposed to mean?

Ha! So he didn't care about her at all, did he?

As Ye Mo's frustration visibly mounted, Lin Jie began to panic, squirming in his seat, wondering how he could possibly explain himself... Who knew why he suddenly felt guilty?

"Hello, Miss, I'm Mo Jiale, a friend of Lin Jie's... Since you're also his friend, I won't say much, just a toast to you. Feel free to drink as you like."
