Chapter 90: The March into the Unknown

The group advanced in silence, only the sound of their boots against the uneven ground of the Stone Mountains breaking the tranquility of the early morning. The long shadows of the rocks and the undergrowth seemed to watch over each step, as if nature itself were aware of the gravity of the mission.

Rodrigo, at the head of the group, kept his eyes on the path. The feeling of imminent danger hung heavy in the air, but he focused on leading the soldiers firmly. The cold of the night was biting, but not enough to cool the determination of everyone there.

Sebastião followed close behind, checking the condition of the troops and making sure no one was left behind. His experience in logistics and organization was evident in the way he coordinated the movements, ensuring that everything was in perfect order.

Olavo, as always, was focused on the details. He observed the rock formations around him, looking for signs of traps or ambushes. He knew the enemy was cunning and did not underestimate their ability to adapt and counterattack. At every turn along the way, he calculated possible escape routes and points of attack.

As the group approached the cave entrance, where they had encountered the hooded men earlier, all their senses were on high alert. Rodrigo signaled for the group to stop, raising his hand and indicating that they should duck. Something was different; the silence was even heavier, as if the air itself was waiting for action.

He moved forward, carefully, and observed the entrance. There was no movement, but he knew that the enemy could be waiting. Rodrigo returned to the group and whispered his instructions.

"We will split into two teams. One will go through the main entrance, the other will look for a side entrance. We need to surround them before they notice our presence."

The soldiers nodded, dividing as ordered. Rodrigo would lead the main team, while Sebastião and Olavo would coordinate the second team.

With everything decided, the two groups separated and began moving, each towards their own objective. Rodrigo knew that the next step would be decisive; there was no room for error.
