After the general meeting ended, George teleported invisibly into his office as principal. The place was already bustling with activity.
Three separate groups were fiercely fighting over the Cosmic Cube.
Gamora, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, Star-Lord and Yondu—of these three factions, Yondu and Star-Lord's side was the strongest.
Yondu's Yaka Arrow was immensely powerful, and although Star-Lord's hand-to-hand combat skills were average, he was highly adept at using various technological weapons to assist in battle.
However, Gamora—known as the universe's most formidable spy, whose body had been extensively enhanced and modified for superior close-combat ability—was no weak opponent. Neither was Groot, with his impressive strength, defense, and crowd control capabilities. Rocket Raccoon, with his extraordinary intelligence and agility, was just as formidable.
In the three-way melee, whenever one side seized the Cosmic Cube, the other two would instantly team up to stop them.
As a result, the battle had dragged on without a clear victor.
The main reason was that this was the Superpower Academy—filled with ability users—and its principal was a terrifying monster. None of them dared cause too much commotion, and their attempts to snatch the Cosmic Cube were noticeably restrained.
"Stop! If we keep going like this, we're going to get discovered. Listen, I have a suggestion!"
Taking advantage of the moment when Yondu was entangled by Groot, and Star-Lord was locked in combat with Rocket Raccoon, Gamora once again got hold of the Cosmic Cube. But this time, she didn't try to escape.
She knew all four of them would immediately turn on her again, so she loudly called for a ceasefire.
"Little girl, I'm not afraid of your crazy foster father. Hand over the Cosmic Cube, and you might just walk out of here alive today."
Yondu pointed his Yaka Arrow at Gamora, his eyes filled with killing intent.
On the other side, Rocket Raccoon stood on Groot's shoulder, pointing a gun at Gamora as he barked:
"Hey, crazy lady, drop what you're holding, or I'll blow you to pieces. Then tomorrow, when that principal walks into his office and sees green bits everywhere, it'll be quite a sight!"
"Calm down and hear me out."
Gamora raised a hand, trying to pacify them.
"To be honest, the person who posted this bounty is Thanos. Even if you manage to get the Cosmic Cube and go to him, you won't get a reward—instead, he'll just snap all your necks.
But we can cooperate. I know a buyer who's willing to pay four billion for the Cosmic Cube. Let's go to him together.
At that time, I'll take one billion, and each of your sides can split fifteen billion. That's five billion more than the original ten-billion reward. How about it?"
"The bounty poster is the Mad Titan Thanos?"
Hearing Gamora's revelation, the three men's eyes showed signs of hesitation.
"You're Thanos's daughter. Why should we believe you?"
"Adopted daughter. He wiped out half the population of my planet, including my parents. Then he trained me to kill again and again, and modified my body.
Believe me, I hate him more than anyone. I want to kill him, but he's too powerful.
That's why I need the Cosmic Cube—to sell it and use the money to get far away from him. I don't want to be under his control anymore!"
Gamora roared, her voice full of anger.
"If you're willing, one of you can keep the Cosmic Cube. I'll take you to the buyer."
She deliberately placed the Cosmic Cube on the floor and backed away a few steps.
Seeing that Gamora didn't appear to be lying, Star-Lord holstered his elemental blaster.
"Yondu, I think she's telling the truth."
"If that's true, you're something else. If you're ever interested, you can join my Ravagers crew," Yondu said, retracting his Yaka Arrow.
Rocket Raccoon jumped down from Groot's shoulder.
"If that's the deal, I'm in—but the Cosmic Cube stays with me first!"
Yondu had the full support of the Ravagers behind him, making him the strongest among them. Gamora possessed the key information needed to contact the buyer. Only Rocket Raccoon and Groot's side was somewhat replaceable.
That was why they had to be the ones to hold the Cosmic Cube—to maintain balance among the parties.
Yondu, Star-Lord, and Gamora exchanged glances. Finally, they all nodded in agreement, clearly accepting Rocket Raccoon's demand.
With the three factions in consensus, Rocket Raccoon stepped forward to pick up the Cosmic Cube.
However, just as he was about to grab it, another hand reached in first and snatched it away.
"Oh dear… it looks like you've all forgotten the contract you signed this morning. Now, what should I do? Should I kill you all, or...?"
The one who had appeared and taken the Cosmic Cube was none other than George, who had been watching the show from the sidelines all along.
"Damn it!"
The moment they saw George, everyone was shocked and, without hesitation, launched attacks at him.
They weren't the kind to sit around and wait to die. Even though they knew of George's reputation, none of them were willing to surrender without a fight.
Yondu moved first. At his whistle, his Yaka Arrow streaked through the air like a red flash, aiming straight for George's vital point.
But before it could even graze George's skin, the arrow suddenly halted as if caught by an invisible force. Then, in the blink of an eye, it reversed course and hovered right at Yondu's forehead. No matter how he whistled, it didn't respond.
The Yaka Arrow was made of metal—even if it came from an alien world, it was still subject to magnetic control and naturally useless against George.
At George's current level—comparable to Magneto—reversing control over the arrow was child's play.
Next to act were Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon. They drew their elemental and laser guns, aiming to fire. Unfortunately, before they could even get a proper aim, their weapons flew from their hands and turned to point at themselves.
Both weapons contained metal, and thus, fell easily under George's magnetic influence.
On the other side, Gamora's short sword was forcibly torn from her grasp and positioned at her own throat.
The only one not restrained by magnetism—Groot—extended his branches toward George. But before they could reach him, they inexplicably recoiled and tangled around Groot himself.
This was George simultaneously casting a plant-control spell he had learned from the elves, seizing control of Groot's own limbs.
In the span of just one second, all five launched their attacks—and were all subdued by George just as quickly.
"Principal, don't kill us! Let's talk this out, we can talk! We were just out for a nighttime stroll, curious about the stars! That's all!" Star-Lord, seeing the elemental blaster hovering menacingly over his head, raised both hands and shamelessly pleaded.
George, meanwhile, sat back down in his principal's chair, calmly holding the Cosmic Cube in his hand.
"I've been here the whole time," he said with a smile. "I heard everything you said. So, there's really no point in trying to talk your way out of it."
"What do you want?" Yondu asked, cold sweat dripping down his forehead.
If they didn't handle this well, today might be the end of them.
"It's not about what I want—it's about what you want," George replied.
"I'll give you two choices:
First, I kill you all and call it a day.
Second, you honor the contract you signed this morning and work for the school—for free—for the rest of your lives."
With a wave of his hand, the five contracts they had signed earlier that day appeared once more on his desk.
