Chapter 5: Raining Blood[1]
The world on the other side is beautiful. Birds chirping on the green trees. Deers, rabbits, squirrels—animals of many kinds lived there in peace. The only thing that seemed out of place was the damn portal in the middle of the forest.
Around the portal, there were camps formed, with the princess's personal guards waiting for her to return. It had been 30 minutes since she entered. Although it wasn't a long time, they hoped for the princess to stay safe.
"Hey, Alric?" a soldier asked another one. Two soldiers were guarding the entrance for any kind of threats. They could just call the others if needed.
"What?" the other one, named Alric, asked, a little annoyed.
"What do you think is on the other side?" he asked with a genuine tone.
Alric began to think about it. "I bet there are beautiful and sexy chicks on the other side, just waiting for us," he said, a smirk creeping onto his face.
Kael rolled his eyes. "Really? You think they're just sitting around, waiting for a couple of guards to waltz in?"
"Hey, a man can dream, can't he? Just imagine it—hot women, lush landscapes, and no damn responsibilities," Alric said, his eyes gleaming with mischief.
Kael shook his head, laughing. "You'd be too busy getting rejected to even notice. They'll probably see you and run the other way."
Alric grinned. "Or maybe they'll throw themselves at me! I mean, who wouldn't want a handsome guy like me?"
"Handsome? You're about as charming as a toothless goblin," Kael shot back, chuckling. "You should probably keep your fantasies to yourself, or you might get a few hits to the face."
Alric shrugged, still undeterred. "At least I have fantasies. You just have your sword and that scowl."
"Better a scowl than your delusions of grandeur," Kael said, shaking his head in disbelief.
Alric smirked, "Just you wait. When I come back with a harem of beauties, you'll be begging me to share the secrets of my charm."
The soldier could see lust in Alric's face and sighed. "I can't believe you."
Alric shook his head to shake off the dirty thoughts from his mind. Then he walked toward the portal.
"What the hell are you trying to do?" the soldier asked.
"Come on, it wouldn't hurt to just take a look inside. If the princess catches us on the other side, we can just say that we wanted to check up on them," Alric said as he put his head inside the portal.
"What do you see, Alric?" the other soldier asked.
Just after he said that, something came out of the portal in super speed, which couldn't be seen by the naked eye. It collided with Alric. Alric was made a bloody soup. His head and upper chest were nowhere to be seen, but his legs and lower body were lying on the ground.
The figure looked around the camp, trying to find someone.
The other soldier who was talking to Alric was named Kael. He was looking at the bloody mess made of Alric. Although he wasn't Alric's friend, they had stayed long enough to be called brothers.
Kael, without any cry, took out his sword and pointed it at the man who came out of the portal. He was flying two meters above the ground.
The man looked at him and said, "Oh~ Scaredy cat? Look at you bearing your fangs to a god?"
Kael ignored his words, shouting for help. "EVERYBODY, THERE'S AN INTRUDER FROM THE PORTAL!" Even if Kael didn't shout for the other soldiers, they would have come here already. They had heard the sound of the boom when the man collided with Alric.
As the soldiers gathered, their eyes widened at the sight of the flying man.
"Is he... flying?" one soldier gasped in disbelief.
"What the fuck is going on? Is this some kind of sick fucking joke?" another exclaimed, gripping his sword tightly.
"Look at that mess! What the fuck just happened?" a soldier shouted, pointing at Alric's remains, his face pale.
All the soldiers soon surrounded the flying man in a circle. They looked at the bloody mess made of Alric.
"Keep him alive! We need to ask him what happened on the other side!" a soldier said. He wasn't a knight yet but was stronger than the other soldiers. He was currently in charge of protecting the portal from attacks. His name was Ryven.
The man formed a sadistic smile across his face ear to ear. He started to laugh loudly. "You wanna know what happened on the other side? I can show you right here, you pathetic pieces of shit."
