Harl chuckled, trying to lighten the awkward atmosphere. His laughter was light, almost like a gentle breeze blowing through the leaves.
"So~" Harl turned to Ethan, tilting his head with a knowing smile, as if implying something.
"Since that 'couple' isn't here," he said, deliberately emphasizing it with a playful tone, "and I didn't expect this attention-grabbing white-haired lady to have other friends… how about I join your group?"
His tone was cheerful, as if his question was the most natural thing in the world.
Claire, happy that someone had shown interest in joining them after Eliza left, smiled slightly.
She wasn't sure if Harl could be called a friend yet, but at least his presence felt pleasant. However, before Claire could say anything, Ethan immediately gave a short and sharp answer.
"No."
The word came out so raw and without further ado, causing Claire to turn her head in Ethan's direction in surprise.
